I think you're right on! While I'm not optimistic about the state of the transcription career today, I do believe the reason the prevailing line rates have dropped so low is because MTs have accepted it! I actually saw an ad here today offering 6cpl, and I wish they'd be laughed and jeered right off the site, but people desperate to work from home at any cost (and it is a high one) will respond, and that's what keeps these services in business.
