Amen Sister, Amen! Excellent post. (nm)

Glad that's true for you for 8 years. Not true for many. I love the company, but I do run out of
as do many others. Wish I were as fortunate as you.
Not necessarily true. That is not a true test of skill.
Do you know how many people get others to take tests for them? It happens and it happens more often than you might think. The only skill that shows anyway is that you can do it.
We are actually more than a transcriptionist. We are specialists in our field and we are supposed to know some things regarding anatomy and physiology as a working base. That's how we can judge if a physician dictates something in accurately and many do because they can't pronounce or just are not thinking. That's why our skills of basic knowledge come into play and that means basic knowledge of body parts. If our job was just to sit there and type without thinking about what we are transcribing, then all patients are in trouble and this is just based on what I see as a QA person.
It's more than just knowing how to transcribe and some of the companies have discovered how to know what your basic knowledge is based on what you have picked up with your experience by utilizing your references etc. Hopefully that utilization of your references has taught you something that does stick in your head.
Beliefs like yours are just so far off base. You have to know what you are doing. It's not just about being able to listen and type. Base knowledge is a very important thing and the services have to find a way to know that knowledge base that is there in your head.

You would think in order to succeed, they would want to treat their good MTs like gold, and help the newbies out. Instead there is nothing but backstabbing. Having said that, there ARE some good people still working there, why they have not been run off yet, I have no idea. But my hat goes off to them, the good guys fighting the good fight...you know who you are! As for SD, she was always extremely nice and encouraging to me. It was when she stepped down when all hell broke loose and the company went to the crappers.

The whole "lets blame the IC" is really getting boring. I too am an IC and work my scheduled hours. I always call before logging in after my scheduled hours to see if I am needed, and I am always told "yes". It is the end of the pay period and guess what employees......IM OUT OF WORK TOO.

This person's obsession with recruiters and the fact that he/she seems to be perched just waiting for the opportunity to throw out that question is a little disturbing. Enough already! Maybe, just MAYBE the majority of these people really are MTs who are happy with the co. they work for. And if some of them are recruiters, big hairy deal! And no, I'm NOT one - geesh!

Ha, we must work for the same company!. I'm thoroughly disgusted. Because of reckless overhiring we have to be a slave to the computer for 14 hours a day 7 days a week just to meet quota or face severe punishment. The holiday excuse is old and a bunch of bull. But what do they care, they're salaried.

We all know there are good companies, and there are bad companies. We each have to decide that on our own experiences. It is fine to share personal experiences but that should be done in a professional manner - not with the personal digs. I don't know the first thing about Keystrokes either, but in my personal opinion, some of these posts are not helping the reputation of the company. If it's good, you don't have to defend it. One or two people on this board are not going to ruin the company's reputation.
Amen.

Had all this stuff to fill in on an opening page - right? took minutes of hand entering stuff before you could start working on your lines.

They know who they are and I have no respect. They are dumping us in the potty bigtime. What is the word I have for them? cheater, loser, no those words are too good. And even worse are their employers who let them get away with it, work the shit out of other people and then scream wheres my profit? Nannaannanay... waaawaa

It is unfair that we have to sit back and take the abuse...and they just move on to the next MTSO with not a second thought! AMEN! AMEN!

I agree 100% with you!!!! I love my job, but I am seriously considering changing careers so that I can make more money without killing myself trying to make ridiculous bonuses.
You know what else ticks me off is the CMT extra money they offer. It seems like years of experience is less important than the certificate. How many years of experience is equivalent to a CMT?
AMEN to that!!!
So true!! If you read this board long enough you can figure things out.
AMEN to that!
Not to mention their test which certifies MTs. I swear I don't know how some of these people can put CMT after their name. To me it means nothing. Show me what you know instead of a piece of paper.

You hit the nail on the head. I have 4 accounts to work out and was out of work yesterday. I have to say I absolutely love the people that I work for, but I do have a mortgage. But the company overall is terrific.

AMEN
Absolutely correct!

You said it! You know this is supposed to be a board where we can find out the good and the bad about companies, the real and honest opinions, not just a gripe board. Life is too short and there are too many companies out there, so my question is to these people who are at DSG and are so unhappy...... Why don't you spend the same amount of time looking/applying for another job that you spend here complaining! Fact is that DSG is a decent company, not a good fit for everyone (but then again no company or job is a good fit for everyone)BUT definately worth trying, at least you know that you will get paid. So, if it is a good fit great! If it is not a good fit, at least you made some money and now you know. That being said if you are not happy there move on!!! We build our lives complaining instead of doing, WHY?!?!?
AMEN to the max !!!! - nm

Yeah, seriously. I may be a newbie but I don't think my skills are that bad until I hear some of these doctors mumble through an H&P with their mouth full of marbles!

Well said. Our country is entering unchartered territory. The challenge for the future is how do we maintain enterprise and democracy when you have corporations leading the direction of the country. Look around, pay attention as the poster above says. Pharmaceuticals are the most powerful. They influence our government and in turn, influence our society, and where it's going. Many sanctions are given to corporations, why? Because our economy is not so good these days, and we would be in terrible trouble if corporations could not keep the economy going, even if that means the middle class is dying. All things have a way of correcting themselves, and perhaps through some painful changes we may see an adjustment with something that looks like socialism somewhere down the road. Just a thought.
Amen and Thank You
I agree - Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday, Jesus!! May the New Year bring blessings to all of us. OP sounds like a sensible person who likes her job - everyone else should be happy for her.
AMEN!!!!
I couldn't have said that any better myself. Bravo!

The sooner we all learn this lesson, the better off we will be. After years of loyalty to those who did not deserve my loyalty, I was more than a half century old when I finally figured it out; I hope it doesn't take you all that long.

I am thrilled to say I have taken an in-house position again after being in this business since 1992 both in-house for several years and at home for the past 8 years. The in-house position is only 2 miles from my home, part-time 20-35 hrs a week, most likely 30-32, every other weekend, with benefits, great pay for my experience, Christmas bonuses, paid PTO and the biggest benefit of all a life after work. Hallelujah!!!

I agree with you completely! This is nothing to complain about, this is more money for the majority of us. Those people here complaining need to look at the numbers and think before they start carrying on like this. An example is the very first new tier - it starts at a LOWER number of lines (you couldn't even get a bonus for such low production under the old system), and it pays at a higher rate than the old first tier! IMO if a person can't make first tier under this new system they must be seriously slacking off. The old first tier is the new second tier (at a much higher bonus rate), and so forth!
I always made less on my secondaries because I couldn't keep my LPH as high, causing me to be reluctant to work OT on them. Now all lines will pay exactly the same. That motivates me.
