tired of companies overhiring and then sitting and waiting endlessly for work
The accomplishes nothing because then people get tired of not making any money and move on. Is there no solution to this?
Question - if we stay plugged in waiting for work (sm)
and get none and then decide to make up the time/lines later in the day, how do you show your time card? Do you make in and outs on your time card (there aren't enough blocks some days). Would have to be careful or it could show up as OT couldn't it? If you do ins and outs with each job/no job then how do you keep track of the time it takes you to do this. Sometimes it takes longer to sign in and out than it does to type a job.
TIA
Well after getting tired of sitting and waiting for 2 weeks i just gave up. sm
Told work was coming in January, well I got trained in December so what good does that do me? I didn't sign in, just gave up. It took them 3 weeks to email and ask where have I been? Where do you think? Working for my other employer. After reading them posting jobs on this site day in and out I have no confidence at all in working for them. With all the time they wanted logging in and out, checking seperate web sites for line counts and QC, doesn't seem too friendly to the MT anyhow. Time to move on before I waste my time.
I'm feeling mighty depressed sitting here waiting on
.
In agreement with the above, sitting working on work
is just beyond what it should be. In earlier years I worked 2 jobs but each job paid every 2 weeks. One job paid 1 week, the other the next so my check each and every week was for 2 week pay period. How sweet was that! Now if I have a few hours downtime for no work it is fine, just take off, can make it up, don’t have to if I don’t want but very few times this happens and I only have a partime job now.
Yep I am sitting here with 3 large accounts and no work. Has anyone gotten any satisfaction from
speaking with corporate about this. These people in Amherst obviously do not know what they are doing. I wonder what the quality of this work looks like just throwing anyone and everyone on these accounts. Cant be too good. I have also noticed their QA people dont fill in blanks even for the docs that really are just more technical. Understandable with bad cell phones etc but just more technical or with an accent they dont get the blanks.
waiting for work
For anybody that has worked with transform..............Have you have experienced this. I have been waiting for work to be asigned to me for four hours. Yes, they asign work to you......................I have been with this company for two weeks. I made a mistake, I put the wrong date of service on a report...............................So I am wondering if this is the reason why my e-mail has not been answered, nor my phone calls, nor AOL messenger. I have not made mistakes with medical words, at least that I know (although I have not gottent a lot of feedback). I have been transcribing in this particular speciality for 7 years, so I don't think I made huge mistakes.
Have anybody experienced this?
WAITING FOR WORK!!!
In your response to FutureNet. I am currently working for them. It is a good company, easy platform, great people, but I am waiting for work as I type. I think they have over-hired, we are now caught up and out of work. Doesn't pay the bills!
Soon to be in the poor house
Waiting for work
Do you have other accounts with FN? I have four and if work is REALLY low I wait and do work for the other service I am employed with. We have several new accounts coming on and some of them are still in the testing stage. But it is also that time of the year.
Waiting for work
I also have 4 different accounts that I can work on, so running out of work doesn't happen very often for me.
I'm still waiting on work
this morning but haven't had anything come up for over an hour.
I'm on 40+ hrs, but 15-20 waiting for some work. nm
Waiting for work
I guess it is just the same with all these companies, but it can be so irritating when your supervisor gives you the morning update on minutes and is thrilled that all accounts are empty and says how great it is. Why do they not understand how distressing this is to the MT?
Just sitting her twiddling my thumbs waiting......
waiting for work (sm)
I'm getting fed up with it too. I think they have way overhired, and I'm thinking it may be time to move on. Sick of spending 12 hours on my computer waiting for 7 hours of work.
Everyone waiting for work must consider
The number 1 reason for unemployment compensation is LACK OF WORK, and that income is only going to be about 50% of your greatest income in 3 of the last 5 quarters (check with your state). Yes, I certainly do believe each and every single one of them should be reported for this. Someone needs to put a stop to it!! However, you must consider that once you confront your employer about this, it will likely get you laid off. They really have no choice when you **go legal** on them. It happened to me. I figured it would, but I was so tired of clocking in and out, in and out, waiting for work from 6:30 in the morning until after 9 or 10 at night. Sometimes I still would not meet the minimum requirement. I refused to use my PTO. My income was sinking. After about 6 months, I said no more, give me work or let me go. I knew I had a much greater earning potential and they were going to continue to offshore more and more. When I told my supervisor I wanted a third party involvement I was laid off. What these companies are doing is truly a crime and thus gives them the name SWEAT SHOP. If you are in the position, please report them, even if you not work there anymore.
And then there's the waiting for work, sm
software installs, doing timesheet(s), checking old reports, etc.
I hope you're right. I've been waiting 4 wks for an ID - still waiting! nm
s
Agree. Waiting for work right now.

Me too....waiting on the work *sigh* (sm)
What is the deal, overhiring? I have only been there a few months, but geez! And I had heard really wonderful things about MDI-MD too before I started. I really like them so far, but wish the work load was heavier.
Tired of Waiting for work
Just want to vent here . . . .
I have worked for a IC for 5 years, over the summer the work dwindled down, keep getting promises of new accounts coming, still sitting here with no work. I am applying for the online jobs here every day. I have been doing MT for 13 years. I just get no response from any of the resumes I send. I'm going to have to get a job outside of home before my hubby kicks me out:( It just seems like nothing is ever going to come my way. I need a job!
Okay, vent over, thanks!
Yep, I got tired of waiting for work
and empty promises so I took on two jobs. Of course when they are both busy they want me to work extra. Tough. There was no work for me when I was trying to feed my family for weeks as I sat looking at a blank screen.
IMO look elsewhere...I spent a lot of time waiting for work rather than working! nm

Anxiously waiting for work load to pick up -- LOW, low n/m

WAITING FOR WORK? POSTING ON JOB SEEKERS BOARD.sm
07/28/09 for new MTs, FT & PT, all shifts. Are they saying the accounts are UNDERSTAFFED?
Naturally, the new hirees will be gooing and gushing all over this board again about how GREAT their accounts are and how EASY their dictators are.
I JUST WONDER WHAT THIS LATEST, YET ANOTHER HIRING BLITZ IS GOING TO LEAD TO IN ANOTHER FEW WEEKS. Anyone care to predict? .
Still waiting for work, but I figured it out. WMX pays for holidays (sm)
but only IF you get your required lines/hours in. Of course the work was low over the weekend, but we expected that, and now EVERYONE is making sure they qualify for the holiday pay. Make sense?
Oh, I forgot to mention....must be flexible and have all day to devote to waiting for work.
The work fluctuates too much. Feast or famine there.
Stay there but take on the other job as well and see which one gives you work.
Gracefully leave the other.
If you can stay on top of your work then no - sm
But depending on your account, basically everything uploaded on Friday needs to be completed by midnight Sunday. Can make for some crazy schedules.
Stay with the one that has the most consistent work available. nm

Friend ran out of work too often and didn't stay. Pay was 8 cpl as an IC. nm

Any company who wants to stay in business sends work out
It is called a blended model. Hospitals are demanding a better price and US companies must offer offshore work that is edited by US MTs to compete. It is just like voice recognition, a company must offer this platform or lose the ability to bid on the work. It is not for every hospital and it is not for every situation. Therefore, if a company does not have the ability to offer a lower price with non-domestic labor plus have a voice rec option, they will find themselves unable to compete in tomorrow's marketplace. Those who cannot compete will lose market share and continue to run out of work. Those who can compete will continue to hire MTs and grow market share.
I have decided to stay, despite the low work at peak hours
I plan to work nights, overnight and weekends anyway, when I am cleared, I will do just as you will. If people leave, more work for me, that is sad to say but true. I also picked up another job for the other half of the times if and when there is no work...Seems to me people here may act like the place stinks to get people to leave so there is more work for them... Dog eat dog... Anyway, don't want to get into finger pointing, but I am staying even if there is very little work because as SE I can work elsewhere as well... and I can also lower my lines in either place if I have to as opposed to being an employee (as I was elsewhere) where they force you to sit for hours and then take away benefits where there is no work. Won't run into that here... Congrats on your decision to stay, and I will too because I am willing to put up with working at odd times to be with an honest company. After the last 6 months and the type of treatment from a highly touted company here, there are worlds of differences in the treatment and as an IC/SE worlds of freedom for me to work when and how I need to. Good luck to you too. See you at MDI overnight! :)
Overhire, inconsistent work flow..Been there doing that. Cant afford to stay.
Need I say more..
Yep, sitting here with nothing again...
There is very little on the system, can't even make low line count. What is happening????
I can't afford to stay with VR. If they paid more, I'd stay.
The situation sucks. I really liked this company when I started there. I know they read these forums, and they are aware that we are unhappy over VR line rates. They stroke us with cute emails and say we're the best, but I can't feed my family on praise. They're turning into another MedQuist, and so I'll be leaving.
I have to vent, as I am sitting here SM
with a throbbing headahce and chest pain. Every Friday, and I mean EVERY FRIDAY, I have a day from hades on my account. I work on a difficult account, lots of ESL, but generally I enjoy it and get work sent I really enjoy. I'm used to the doctors and it is not a problem any other day of the week, EXCEPT FRIDAYS, when I have one awful report after the next. I will have the worst doctors, one right after the next, without any let up. It could be random, I know, but I assume they are cleaning the mess out before the weekend, when they have less expereinced people working.
Do other people have the same experience? I work for a large company, not MQ. The other large company. And please, no discertations on not being professional, etc. I'm actually concerned for my health.
I do dog-sitting in my home. $15 per day.

I would be a sitting duck. That is why I am
trying to get out of my present situation of working every weekend, because I am easily swayed. Oh no. Thanks for letting me know this in advance. This, in particular is a weakness of mine and I need to avoid a situation like that at all costs!
well I am sitting here on MTstars so...
That means there are no jobs. I ran out about an hour ago. Guess I will grab some lunch and try again later. Have a good one.
I am still sitting today and running
out of work. This is not fair. When I hired in, I was told there was plenty of work. Now, the accounts I was told I was assigned are nonexistent. I am being told that they not know if and when these accounts will materialized. I was assigned clinic, yet the only thing I have recieved are OP reports. Long, hard, unclear OP reports. If I was hired and paid to do them, fine, I was not. Was told I had to start from the bottom and can only be allowed to do clinic. So what the @#%^&^& am I getting this junk work for. Moving on Monday. Thank god.
I agree, but now I am sitting here trying to figure it out.
I don't work for KS and I am just a nosey person. Also, I type all day so I have nothing else better to do than wonder what the initials stand for. Sad. Very sad (I am referring to my curiosity). No joke.
yep. Just sitting and drinking java.
x
Take pic of you sitting at PC with blanket draped
x
No, I am not sitting around. I am working all night
everyone is out having fun or sleeping. The only way to make a living. I cannot afford to sit and scrounge. I have no help outside of my own support and no family except a son to provide for, you better believe I don't sit and wait!
Well, this just makes no sense at all. Are you saying that TT management are sitting
posting positive things about their country to lure us all in? I know there are plenty of reasons to be paranoid about MTSOs these days, but isn't that taking it to a new level?
I am sitting here patting my foot as I read this
Reading through I got the impression she was not qualified in any way, shape or form, no experience and it showed just by what she was putting down. I am glad someone else saw through all this smoke.
I am sitting here looking at an empty screen also so dont feel alone. What is going on with MQ out
of work like this. I have 4 backups and am still out. I guess they are hot and heavy on this turnaround time being nonexistent so they are over hiring now and we will look at more empty screens.
Does your behind get sweaty after sitting a long time in that chair?
My microfiber chair is pretty and okay but I get sweaty and I don't like it.
Sorry, but it's not me to go say "hey, remember me..I'm sitting with my hand out begging
for acknowledgment. Truly, not bashing the company. Overall, they have been good to me and that is why I stay. Maybe, they aren't the most organized but I am sure they try. I've worked extra to get bonuses and had to beg for that too (same thing..passing the buck..this person forgot to send it out, that person should have already done it, took about 2 months.............so..I'm done with that. I have a job and that's good enough for me. If there were any better companies out there, I'd be there but they have most beat on that. What I have found that overall the best place to work is not for nationals but local doctors. They are the most appreciative and obviously do not have a lot of employees so you don't get lost in the shuffle. Merry Christmas to All. I have my wonderful family who is my life, not my job and that is what matters most to me.
Yeah, thinking about it sitting here in my sweats, hair up in a ponytail myself...sm
I must honestly say it is hard to demand respect looking like this. Thanks for making me smile!
It really does take unique people to be able to work while the kids are screaming in the background, the dog is bugging you because he wants to go outside for the hundredth time today, you know you only have one more load of laundry to catch you up for the day, and all the while you have the dictator who thinks it's ok to talk while he stuffs his mouth full of food, or to sit in the lounge where everybody is taking a break and making plans or whatever. Oh well, from the looks of thes print on these sweat pants, I haven't lost my sense of humor anyway. It is hard to be real serious when you are over 40 and running around with pink flames on your clothing, sheeesh!
If you can stand sitting for long stretches to fulfill your schedule, you might not mind it...
I prefer working a required line count, not a set, rather inflexible schedule as I had at Webmedx...It's all in what you want to put up with. They, like almost all MTSOs, could care less about YOU..they just want you to grind out your lines. My supervisor was new and fairly unreasonable as well. Good riddance...
