and I failed. I was hoping to find out what I had done wrong. In any event, I'm testing with other companies that transcribe general and legal to get some variety.

I thought the written was fairly easy. The typing test (sm)
was difficult for me because the specialties I was tested on were different than what I'd been working on, plus new docs that I wasn't dialed-in to, yet. Also, since the test is on a temporary platform (Express Scribe) I couldn't slow it down, and one doc was pretty fast. STILL, because of that fact I was allowed to take my time, so I looked up every term I wasn't 100% familiar with, and proofread several times. The hospital I was testing on was a state-of-the-art teaching hospital, so that meant lots of new drugs & procedures; thank goodness for the Internet! Although we are paid on production, QUALITY is the most important thing. I do a lot more proofreading than I did at my previous job, and as a result I often work longer hours to make my line count, but I can break up my day any way I need to, so I'm not chained to my desk. As a result I feel a lot more relaxed than I used to, and my blood pressure has gone down, as well.
I got 100% on the phone interview, and thought the on-line test was easy, but they still didn't h

Took what I thought was an easy test but no response. Sounds like we're not missing much though.
I agree with the other poster. Where are all the decent companies at?
I just took the test today - thought it was a great test of MT skills.

Test Was Easy
BUT if you don't have years of experience you won't be hired by them.
Wow. I thought the first 4 were really easy.

I thought it would be easy too!
I had never done radiology before, that is probably why I had so much trouble. I put in the right acronyms but I didn't know how to expand them...and the QA/owner said she would teach me but instead resorted to personal attacks of my lack of knowledge. If you were working physically in the hospital that is probably why it was so much easier for you. I didn't know many of the acronyms. Plus, it didn't help that she sent me improper formatting!
I believe this. I had taken their test, which was as far as I am concerned, EASY, yet...
They told me I didnt pass. I didnt even think it was possible to fail that easy of a test but the other poster may have had a point.
That test was so easy. If you didn't know
- you shouldn't be an MT. They were very BASIC questions that you learn in Transcription 101.
Test was really fairly easy. (sm)
I expected there to be some really difficult accents, but they weren't.
Good luck.
easy, typed test reports
no ESLs, typed 2 test reports in under 10 minutes, these are just cysts, skin pathology.
I thought it was no only VERY easy, but kinda fun, after the initial panic !!!
I received a job offer the next day which I also accepted. Nice to be working with you.
I thought it was rude that they never spoke to me or let me test
Believe me, I have a lot of good experience and don't feel I am just entitled to a job. I am flexible on my hours and days and can do any work types. My equipment is state of the art.
It just really fries me to see these companies complaining about a shortage of MTs and then just brushing them off when someone good comes along. Do they really want quality MTs, or do they want newbies that they can pay nothing and walk all over?
The way I figure it, it is their loss, not mine.
Anyone know of a company, easy clinic work, easy Word format, dependable pay? Help!

Usually a spelling test, a punctuation test, and maybe 3-6 test files to do. Sometimes done using

I love it. It is fast, easy to learn and easy to use.
Platform very easy and quick - easy to get used to. :)

I took a test for a company and my foot pedal would work with the test and I had keep going back
over the dictation time and again to get all the words because I couldnt stop and start it by the foot pedal. What can I do about this.
Just took the test myself. No actual dictation to transcribe. Just a written test.
For 13 cpl, I might do it if the dictators aren't a total horror.
There is no written test. Must have been a different company. I took their ortho test sm
and it was easy. You had to know your terminology but it was easy to understand AND I used my foot pedal.
I actually thought of that. I even thought of trying to go back to MQ part-time!! (sm)
I just wonder about hours at a second company. I work days (and some nights) with this company. I have a set schedule but with the no work situtation I've been on the computer at all hours of the day and night. Right now I have no work, so I would love to jump on at a company #2 and start working. Do you have to have set hours at your company #2? Thanks for the suggestion.
Is the test through mttest.com a timed test? Thanks. nm
It's just not easy to do for most of us. nm

Does anyone else think it is just as easy to go to a different
company as it is to learn new account at the same time you are learning a new platform that has a lot of problems?
easy to put an end to it all
Doesn't matter if QT says they are not closing or not selling, it is all in what the account decides what will force the hand. You have one big account, lose one big account, you do the math.
It's VERY easy
All that you do is hit F6 and it brings up all of the old report. As far as I can tell, they go back about a year.
easy as pie
Super easy and I find it super fast. Check out www.escription.com
I cannot tell you how easy it is to get someone's SS#
and have a grand time with it! Try explaining it to the hospitals that want to outsource to certain national companies that don't do a background check on employees or that the threat to take SS# just by when doctors dictate them is easy - can you imagine how easy it is for the offshore companies to do it. If I can do it in the states working for a national company, imagine what the offshore companies can do!
EASY
I was wondering the same thing. The ad said It is easier to edit than type, and they pay hourly. I don't like their choice of words though. Neither is EASY. It all takes skill. I, too, am curious--Who is TMMG?
Its not easy being a
You're right the girl probably didn't have a clue of how poorly she was doing and thats not playing fair. However, training is not easy. Companies don't want to lose people, especially if they're not paying them much, soooo you're stuck being positive positive positive even when the work is horrible, and people tend to get offended at the least little bit of feedback. Its a bit of a squishy position and at times the person training has to go to great lengths to justify their own position. Not easy I assure you. I for one was told I was sending too much feedback, apparently learning how to do things right was not at the top of these MTs list. You cannot completely blame the trainer, but management who lets the MT call the shots.
Easy. NM

Not the OP, ...is it easy to set up?
Do you have to buy anything other than the router? I have comcast cable and already have a router...just don't know what to do with it.
Easy.
You need to go in and put in the BKSP command where the number goes and back the hyphen right up to the command you then you eliminate the 105 painful times you need to enter!! A snap!

easy to say....

It's not as easy to do that now as it used to be sm
If you're SE or IC, you can do that, but with most companies going to employee, MT can only work 40 hours and if one can't count on working extra, which goes into overtime and not always offered, it makes having just one job not feasible if MT wants to make X amount of dollars in as much time as it takes her/him.
I wish I could just do one job with OT when offered, but I really need the security of having the PT to get what I need to make ends meet.
I'm sorry. I must have it easy there, which SM
is reason I, unfortunately, can't leave.
I really feel badly for you. Sadly, that's why company has the reputatation it does. They are more concerned about happiness of offshore MTs.
Easy. Take a job anywhere. It will be prn because
there will be no work. They will want you to type prn but demand you live up to a line count and schedule they will not promise work to fill, thus it ends up prn for you, and great for them. Sorry, just the facts. Imagine a company that was honest and actually hired for prn. There's never be anything comparing what it is like for full time or part time these days. JIMHO
Very easy---
go into program files, find ShortHand file, click on that, that is where all the things are. Go to the SPF files, find which one you have your abbreviations in, you had to have named it something (you can check the opened shorthand and look at the tab on the bottom that shows what you use for your abbeviations), copy that file (I use a fast whatchamacall it that you plug in) or you can copy in a separate file until you can copy it to a removeable file, just paste it somewhere, then when you want to copy it to another computer with the Shorthand program on it, just paste it in the shorthand file (like where you copied it from on the other computer). When you open up the Shorthand file, you will have to click on the new shorthand files and add it so it will put a tab at the bottom.
So easy to say that when not you
The poster said she made good money and needed the job. It is the lady's job and she calls the shots. Sure the person can quit and cut off her nose to spite her face. That is just business.
Thats easy for you to say
Thats easy for you to say when you are getting offered 8 and 9 cpl. I am just testing and testing and testing and testing and not even getting offered anything. I need work and if I am offered 7 cpl typing for 1 or 2 dictators I will take it because you can still make money at that. I don't mind working 2 jobs because that way you always have something to type.
It is easy once you are used to it. I love it! xx

Easy tests
Nope, you can't go by that. In fact, you can't go by anything but your own experience. Make your wisest decision. Use your gut instincts. That's all any of us can do.
It might help others to answer if you named the companies, but I understand why you can't.
Good luck. :)
Yes, for 2 weeks, which is easy on the
That works out to be 200 lines an hour. What type of work do you do?
Easy to spot
lol :)
not easy to find
find it after clicking on company board, as it's not listed after you click forums and only after you click on company board...
I knew it was too easy sm
Probably too good to be true but I will try to straddle both jobs. My current one is a stinko place, lotsa junk dictation, no $$, so T seemed like a big step in the right direction. However, I got it too easy. My experience with both MT and nonMT jobs is if you get them too easily, there's usually a reason why -- nobody else wants it.
So easy to say, so hard to do. If you were going to do
it, you would have already. It is so much easier to bash companies and service owners than to do it yourself. Just like armchair quarterbacks. If you had the time and talent to do it better yourself, wouldn't you?
Yes, it was pretty easy. nm
nm
Easy platform...sm
Basically, I have several accounts that I work on, but for the most part all that you have to enter in is the patient's name, DOB, DOS...the rest is usually filled in for you, click Enter or something like that, one button, and then it sends you to the report...when you are finished with that, you just click one button, check mark for QA or not, and send it through..SIMPLE and GREAT platform...not difficult at all...
You know, it's not always easy to get insurance on your own. nm
