Why do I come back? I don't know. I've made some decent friends and networking contacts here. It's just not worth the constant negativity. I'm a happy person, and I like to hang out with other happy people. Negative people drag things down.
The owners of this board are trying to do a good thing here. This board is NOT a forum for trolls to flame others just to make themselves feel good.
I've got my crockpot full of spiced cider, a plate of sliced apples with caramel, pumpkins to carve, and popcorns balls to roll. That's way more fun than putting up with rudeness.

No forums at KS and I think they discourage you talking to other MT's. I have already been there and asked about this. You can talk to QA people and your lead Transcriptionist all you want. By the way you will love Melissa, the Lead MT. She is the greatest you could find. She will help and do anything humanly possible to help you on the job. Good luck. Maybe it will not be that bad for you if you have done lots of ESL before. It is not really the ESL, it is the hospital who you are working for. -- they are a pain in the *********, if you know what I mean. Anyway you can email me if you would like. I worked there for almost 1 year.

You're right, they are not the only ones; but my experience was opposite. More work that a person should be expected to do in one day, worked 14 to 16 hours. Did not have a choice, had to clear out my que each and every day. And THEN came the battle of the paycheck! They, Panhandle, still owe me my last one from over a year ago!
Again, thanks so much for all of the posts on these forums. I always check here first (don't post much tho) to research a company. I did submit my resume to Sten-Tel, but thanks to your posts, I'll never apply or accept a position with them.

They list loads of employers and you can just click on their sites and check out their career information. It does not tell you anything about the rates, but it is a place to start sending out your resume, and there are a lot of smaller companies not seen on the regular job board here.

Any MT who defends being docked for errors, sounds more like management to me...
UNless your rate is so high as to be able to justify a very small deduction (for serious errors only), of course...

Maybe you haven't read some of the other forums
One person wrote about being evicted because her pay checks were getting lower and lower and lower. She was taken to task for not doing whatever it took to bring in more money, taking 2 and 3 jobs, going to school, getting off her lazy azz. Facing a similar situation myself, I would take the 6 cents for 3 days, hoping that my skill/experience will show them I'm worth an extra 2 whole cents at the end of the 3 days. Would I love to have the strength of my convictions to say heck, no, I'm worth more than that? You bet. But the reality is the wolf is at the door and I've got to do something now to send him knocking somewhere else. As I said, if I could do this with ExpressScribe or any employer-provided platform, I would take the job and probably not mind it. The MTSOs, VR, and economy have created an environment where we HAVE to accept these wages, not WANT to do it.

A lot can be misinterpreted, so that is something we should try to think about when posting. But then I guess that takes a lot of effort, doesn't it? I'm kind of weird about that because I've hurt some feelings before unintentionally and wished I could take back my written words. Well, this is how I interpreted your post personally and the above was my reply, as thoughtful as I could make it while still keeping my true opinion. I didn't really feel offended so much as I just wanted to give the opposite point of view on the subject.
And as far as other people posting using *OP* so we thought it was you? Well, I agree I did think some of those posts were yours... the style seemed the same and the name was the same, so that was my assumption! Maybe a different moniker... like *the original and true OP*!!
Anyway, of course I am somewhat jealous of you being able to choose your awesome schedule, but only a little bit. All in all I would not trade my life for any other, no matter what my shift! Sounds like you feel the same. Today is my day off and headed to the beach now!

The reason I am sure these are NOT Trolls...
Because, honestly, this is they way they treat their MTs! It rings so true. They recruit VERY HEAVILY and go through MTs more than any other MTSO I have been with. That's why you see all these other MTs posting their negative experiences with SS.
They are trolls, just out to to antagonize.
They are common on the internet, and should just be ignored at all times. It was a very obvious troll post. Now that it had died down, it certainly will start up again by posting again about it. Please just let it go away. The only thing that should have been done is that the moderator should have removed the whole thread. That's what moderators are for. Legit posts get deleted all the time, but they leave this crapola sitting here.

I think that is why so many MTs disregard these forums. They could be a great tool sm
but the few trolls out there really ruin things. I was excited about the strides that Keystrokes has been making and there was some good back-and-forth, it is unfortunate that a very few people had to cause it to be pulled. Every time that happens, for any company, everyone assumes that it is the company's fault and that it must all be bad. Shame that everyone can't follow the rules and play nice.
Some have been unhappy with them according to a search of other internet forums. nm
