Gallon of milk, 1992: $2.78
2009: $3.75
Gallon of gas, 1992: $1.13
2009: $2.50+
Dozen eggs, 1992: $0.93
2009: $2.25
So your salary stayed the same while everything else skyrocketed... yay!
And according to the IIAP, the median salary for a 'secretary' in 1992 was around $25,000, and in 2005 was already up to around $40,000 (no stats listed for 2009 yet). So are you still feeling good about sliding backwards?

I had the mindset that whatever habits/rules I learned from prior employers, if contradicting what W or their clients want, had to be unlearned. You have to please the entity that issues your paycheck, and that takes whatever it takes, IMHO. So there's no point in arguing what is right or not right. If you can't adapt to the requirements of a new job, I guess you need to keep looking or go back to where you were before.

How in the world could mgmt put out an email titled Happy Friday when we have had NO WORK for weeks and weeks now. We can always look forward to such emails on Friday.
Same ole stuff about new accounts coming onboard between now and December, but what about PAYING OUR BILLS IN THE MEANTIME. We have been LOW to NOW WORK for a VERY LONG time now. Going deeper and deeper in a hole financially. How is your paycheck, mgmt????

and I didn't really think it would be like pulling teeth because MOST people at Transcend are willing to help when you ask WITHOUT the attitude. But if you post on the forum like you do here, it's obvious who you are.

grocery stores, nurses, those people usually VOLUNTEER and are not forced into their shifts. Some people want to work on holidays and get DOUBLE or TRIPLE pay, not 9 cents a line to do an ESL that makes you $10 an hour. And what does Obama have to do with it?

People taking those wages are hurting the entire MT field period whether in the US or elsewhere. You are only padding someone else's pockets with those wages. Highway robbery.

I thought it made a difference to work
but unless you are working for the hospital it doesn't matter, you still get what they want you to have. I asked my last supervisor if they get psych work and was told they did but she saved them for another MT who liked them. The work I would get would be one-minute mush mouths. It sometimes took 20 minutes to complete one. That's the way it stayed until I finally left. I think that's an MT service thing because when I worked for the hospital, I typed whatever was next in line, no cherry-picking and no favoritism.
Sorry to hear that is happening to you. Hopefully, things get better either through communicating the problem or by getting a better job situation.

I had previously at another job..huh?? I do notice a discrepancy in accounts. On one account, I get a great line but when I tried another one of their accounts I was not making the same..not even close. I questioned it and was told that the way it is counted is per the hospital/client's contract and they set the rules. So, I just assumed that that facility got a contract that paid for less things than my main account. You can email me privately if you'd like to compare accounts. Trust me, I wont share with anyone. I have had more than my share of issues with this company and am seeking to move on. Good line count or not, sometimes it is just not worth it.

I "only" make $1.15 per report and have made over $62,000 this year so far. I only work 8 hou
5 days a week and pick up one 4-hour weekend shift a month. It depends on the account, your company, the report length, your expanders, normals, etc. I made $1.43 with Edix before I switched and even though I took a per report loss, I make more money in the past 2 years than ever with Edix. I rarely run out of work, which is a HUGE factor. I know that the company I work for is both praised and condemned on this board, but I am happy at KS.
I agree they have WAY over hired, but I am required to work my schedule..you got it made then!

Clear expectations, documented style guide, friendly and helpful staff from the top down, consistent QA. They put in writing what they expect and if you do your thing within those expectations, you will thrive!

sorry about type, but very, very upset with the TT has lost any concern/care for their MT's who make their paychecks for them. Dictatphone doesn't pay you your salary, nor pay for your raises. Your MT's allow your paychecks the remain the same and allow you to give yourselves RAISES.
Leads/sups, etc are transcribing OUR WORK now and we have none to little no paychecks to pay our bills.
You who are thinking of hiring on with TT better give some very consideration to your decision. GOOD ADVICE.
I used to work for a Tailor Made Transcription that was called TMT for short - does that sound right

That's sad. I work for them and I have been happy
and have not run out of work but that huge account that they did get is supposed to be starting soon (I might switch to it) so if that made you nervous, that is sad. Some companies do not falsely advertise.

Happy where I work
I have been a MT for many, many, many years lol. I work at Keystrokes. I make good money, type radiology reports, have plenty of work, can work weekends. This company has grown, made lots of changes for us. I have worked for companies that make promises, tell you that the accounts are great, plenty of work and most of the time not true. I plan on retiring with Keystrokes. This is my opinion, as I know not every company can make every person happy. But, this company makes me happy and I pay my bills on time, which is a good thing.

They are very nice to us and value their employees, and they have the quarterly bonus like MQ had ($50 for 10,000 lines, etc.). They are an up and coming company that does not send to India.

Work is plentiful, the pay is okay (there is a nice incentive tier), the benefits are good, and the management staff is terrific.
Good luck. I have ended up with jobs I hated, and that is definitely an unhappy place to be in.

I work with MD-IT Louisville Division, very happy-sm
I started working for MD-IT in October and it has been a fabulous fit for me! I work in the Louisville Division, there are several others. The work is steady, sometimes overwhelming, but manageable, at least in my accounts. They try not to overstaff the accounts. MD-IT share their transcriptionists across the board and if your primary and secondary run out, they can find you work elsewhere rather quickly. The people are wonderful to work with and friendly. Pay is average, but it is fine for me. There is very little ESL, and what ESL there is is fairly easy to understand. Your coordinator is just an IM message or a phone call away and very helpful. I hope this helps.

I work for Keystrokes and have assigned doctors. I'm very happy. sm
I believe you can get overflow work if your doctor does not dictate on any given day, if there is any overflow work on that day. My pay has always been on time. I highly recommend them.
exactly....all of the people that I know that work for Keystrokes are happy and love their job...
move on if it is not the right fit for you...there are plenty of other companies out there...

I work in Meditech for KS and am VERY happy. I average 300+ lph. I prefer it as sm
it is like WP5.1, which I loved. To each his own.
There are also two types of Meditech, Magic with is like WP5.1 and Client, which is a Word-based program.
I am not her spokesperson just happy with the company I work for and upset that people can be so sm
misleading because the fit was not good for them.
If you have been on these boards a while, you would know that she always posts her name. I emailed her today to tell her what was happening on here, and the response I got back was she does not even look on here as it is too upsetting and has promised herself not to come and look. She has too much else to do with her time and defending herself and her company is always misinterpreted. She basically told me I should spend more time working or with my family than spending time on this soap opera. It is better to not care and let people form their own opinions. Everyone takes the postings with a grain of salt anyway. I think it is sad that she has to be so tough-skinned.
