Time and time and time again... always the same story. Run! and don't look back.
Absolutely true!

That absolutely is NOT true!!! sm

I wish people would get real facts before they say untrue things on this forum. I guess if you don't give a hoot about your credit and knowing people are delving into it at their whim instead of yours, then you can believe what you read here. I, for one, do not - and neither should you! Merry Christmas!
NOT TRUE! I worked every account and all work types and couldn't

Absolutely not true...it is 8% less than the line
count shown in ExText for headers and footers. Been there for 3 years and check my lines every day.
Absolutely not true. It's not just for companies
but professions. My husband is a member of the electricians union, and my father is a member of a pipefitters union. My dad has been a member of the same union for decades, and he's worked at numerous different places through the years. Same thing for my husband.
Absolutely not true. I was offered a position in
management so to say I couldn't hack it is bull. I just couldn't deal with the BS.
You can believe those on this board saying NO WORK at Transtech ! Absolutely true !!
Getting worse and worse every day. They are going to VR at a VERY FAST PACE, which pays so little you cannot survive on the money UNLESS you work 60 hours a week OR are one of the supe's fav's that get the better dictators.
There is always an excuse by TT as to the low work, but remember that doesn't pay our creditors. Work disappears in large chunks when were at getting almost out of TAT (if ever) so it is going somewhere.
TT is turning out to be like every other MT company out there - more and more executives/supervisors to pay and not a single penny raise for the MT -- much less provide work for the MT's on a consistent basis -- not near consistent basis.
absolutely true! mama's boy trying to run the buisness into the ground.....so very sad!

I worked for MQ for 6 years, and they went from bad to worse. I am glad I do not work there anymore. I worked every weekend (my choice) and almost every holiday for them. They do not give you any differential for working w/e or holidays and will try to screw you out of any $$ they possibly can. After 6 years, no one even said thank you, good luck..nothing!!! I now work for a company that actually appreciates my work!
Couldn't agree more, LOL! (nm)

I am so tired of reading messages from miserable, crabby MT's, who blame their lack of production or being fired from a company, on everything else, but themselves. If that poster was fired from Spheris, it was with good reason. If you cannot cut it at Spheris, they cut you loose. You have 90 days (3 months) to meet your production goals, and judging from your spelling and grammar you probably started on a fairly low level account. I have mentored MT's, done editing, QA audits, and transcription, and the only way to make money is to work HARD!!! That is something that so many people that I have trained do not seem to understand. You have to work to make money and to get your production in.
I totally agree with your post, and I just wanted you to know.
Couldn't agree more (sm)
Feast or famine is correct, but you have to fight for work and fight even harder for some decent communication. I give a thumbs down for this company.

I applaud how well you put this. I have been in this profession over 45 years and still love and respect it. Perhaps it has become all about the money and who makes more, instead of taking pride in ourselves and the work we produce. Money is important, but it is not everything. If more people would strive for quality, stand by their good morals and ethics, and stop worrying about outsources, voice recognition, etc, perhaps this profession could be elevated to where it belongs. For now, I will also continue to be the best I can be and keep moving forward. Remember the Dictaphone??? I remember using a tape recorder and a manual typewriter -- oh my.
I couldn't agree with you more - sm
When I worked for a company, (before I went into recruiting) I would need to find subcontractors for projects. I heard yes, yes yes all the time and I would tell them the deadline. We even paid very well ($3.25/double spaced page which comes out to $30/hour or up) We paid more if it was a tighter deadline. Come the day of the deadline I would hear excuse after excuse after excuse oh my kids were sick I needed you to pay me up front because I didn't believe you were actually going to pay that much or this was the best I had the choice of going out with a man to try to get married so I wouldn't have to do this kind of work or working, which do you think I picked.
So you're right, work ethics have gone right out the window.
Unfortunately, that company decided to offshore a lot of their projects - as much as I am against offshoring, I couldn't blame them.

Google is not a reliable source for spellings, terminology, drugs, etc.
I have had MTs tell me but I found it on google

We don't need to know the intimate details of how the business is run, but for loyalty, dedication, and effort at furthering the well being of the company (not just a paycheck), we deserve to be treated as more than a means to an end or cog in the wheel. I hope each MT who did the right thing for QT sees their efforts rewarded in the future. This situation has brought grief to a lot of people - time to move forward and close the door on QT once and for all. They don't deserve any more of our time or trouble and can be absolutely certain they'll never be worthy of it again.

I have been with KS since this past February and have never been happier! I have two excellent accounts; one ER and one basic 4 hospital account as a backup, and I never, ever run out of work. I also have an excellent rapport with my lead MT and I love it! I make excellent money there, and my check is always direct deposited right on time without any errors. I had worked for a few other companies before Keystrokes, and they couldn't even come close to KS as far as how well they treat their employees, etc. KS has been a huge breath of fresh air to me, and I feel very fortunate to have had such a positive experience with them! I am sure I am going to be bashed left and right and be accused of being a recruiter or management, but I am just an MT with an opinion.

Was so tedious and time-consuming. I hardly believed it is being used. My hands cramped and you cannot advance with the footpedal while you were listening and it jumped ahead too fast which caused you to have to constantly back-pedal. No, thank you. Horrible.
I couldn't agree with you more.
WORKING phone numbers are especially important.
Couldn't agree with you more.
I got the feeling they (management) are all laughing in the background at the MTs. No respect at all. They feel the MTs are a pitiful annoyance to their daily working lives. Very dehumanizing.
Couldn't agree
more with you sm! We are only one sector being affected by jobs leaving this country. I've been around a long time in different venues, and like all of you very disheartened and saddened by what has transpired, but we must make something positive out of the negatives here! Make your voices heard, just not on this forum!

I have always considered myself loyal to the company I work for until the end, but now with all the uncertainty and unanswered questions, I'm thinking that loyalty schmoyalty, maybe I had better move on too.
I couldn't agree with you more, they are the worst! nm

I couldn't agree more with your post...
and especially with getting the media involved. Nothing is going to happen until people realize what is happening to their personal information. It is just now coming to the forefront, thanks to the media, the reality and effect of what happens to our personal information when all of these companies have access to it and the result thereof. It's on television every time we turn around; our personal information being *out there* and in the hands of who knows who, stolen and disseminated in whatever way someone or some company chooses. As well, physicians truly need to understand that companies are outsourcing (I don't believe for a moment that most of them understand this fact). That aside, the effect on the lives and work of the American MT is something that needs to be known, and the media is the only way the information is going to be released to the general public. Using American MTs is the only way this information is *safe*, to so speak.
Additionally, as you state, using us to correct all of the mistakes made by the client in ADT and not paying us for it is so absurd, I am sick to death of it myself. I run across it every day (and MQ (for whom I work doesn't pay us, either). On one account I have, in particular, virtually nothing matches in ADT and if we don't get it correctly, it IS the fault of the MT, no matter what (??). We get email after email about it from out PS on up. Also, everything is done to lessen the line count, no matter how awful it looks. ASR keeps lessening our pay. Everything is beginning to look as if it were done by Indians or Pakistanis, etc., and it's not as if I have anything against those people, in case anyone wants to jump on me for that statement, other than they are being given our jobs. However, the work is substandard.
As an aside, can you think of any better way for a terrorist organization to infiltrate?
I couldn't agree more!! Bravo!

I would absolutely agree with you. SM
Something terrible has happened to the work ethic in this country. I have met so many MTs who feel entitled to high pay per line, easy work, no weekends, no nights, and who don't want to give even the tiniest bit of effort when it comes to completing their work on time and CORRECTLY.
I wouldn't want to be an MTSO for any amount of $ in the world. MTs are too difficult to deal with and there are tons of them out there who are totally undependable and/or incompetent these days.
I agree - absolutely ask
Okay, they obviously like you, but is their love for you going to pay your bills? If other MTs have quit this account they obviously couldn't survive by working on it either. The company obviously knows this. I think they should be willing to pay more for doing it - and it sounds like by complementing you they are hoping you will feel appreciated and keep doing it. Done that many times myself. I have a too extreme desire to be appreciated, and I've had to learn to put that aside and make sure I can survive and pay the bills. Even though I've worked for many great companies with very nice people, if it's a lousy account it just doesn't work.
I say keep looking for a better account, either where you are or elsewhere.
I absolutely agree with you on this Ana....
The owner is a nightmare and doesn't want you to question them about YOUR money! Now that is crazy!!!
I absolutely agree with you
and I think it is the VR/SR platform. I worked for another company doing VR before this one and the platform was much better - speech picked up patterns of the doctors and filled in the correct info behind the correct headings, etc., but this one - it is horrible - you absolutely would not believe it. I would laugh if it was not so serious - the stuff the system puts in is no where near what the doc is saying so almost everything has to be retyped - I know - pretty darn silly.
I absolutely agree with you on that one...sm
I can see both sides of the fence, depending what day it is, how much stress is going on, etc.
But, absolutely, if I'm up front with an employer about my being part-time, and yes, I do put in extra time in evenings and weekends, why in the heck do they treat you like a slacker because you don't want to type 2000 lines a day?
On the other coin, I actually applied for an on-site MT job at a doctor's office. It would be 45-minute drive, professional attire, etc. Thought I was ready for that until it came right down to it. Then started thinking about all the days the kids are out - 1 week for Thanksgiving, 3 weeks for Winter, etc. Realized how spoiled I am, where else can I make this kind of money working part-time?
It's definitely a love-hate relationship! :)
I absolutely agree with you.
MDI and the people who work there are all top notch. I was in no way referring to the QA people at MDI or the email. I was just stating my experience with some inexperienced QA people and how frustrating that is. I've worked for OTHER companies where QA was very inconsistent, incorrect, and very condescending in feedback, even when they were wrong. I apologize to MDI if anyone thought I meant their QA people. I've heard nothing but the best about QA people at MDI. I was just venting a little about newbies being in QA positions and putting errors into reports that did not have reports when submitted, and was wondering if anyone else shared my frustration with that situation. I probably should have started a new thread for this. My bad.
I absolutely agree.

Ohhhhh, sooooooo true -- Transtech tech people absolutely stink anymore since ____ left. He was the
greatest! Hated to hear that he had left. We got some real doozies for tech help now. The MT ends up training them. They are clueless as to what to do when we need help. TRUTH!
They ALWAYS have a BAD attitude in their voice, too -- like we MT's are a bother to them -- thought that is what they get paid for.
Couldn't agree more! I don't hear other ExText client MT's complain about
nm
Oh absolutely! I agree 100%. Especially when it comes to my company
the "company who shall not be named"! Yep, the fabrications that can start flying out on that company are actually funny by the time the flaming thread gets done, but sure must work and scare off a load of MTs, though, actually, by the looks of the new hires, nobody believes them! I think it works against "those" type of posters either way - the extremist cheerleaders and the extremist bashers. They actually do more harm than good for their individual causes, because they sound so NUTS!!
Absolutely agree! I kidded them about having
a tough QA department, but they are good!!! If you don't feel secure about styles and word usage, Mary can train you well. Work for them. It will be tough, but boy will you learn and get paid for it too. On new accounts they are tougher on the MTs because they want to keep the accounts. Good business! Good people all around.
I absolutely agree with you on this post. sm
It's ridiculous for companies to expect ICs to clock in and out for lunch, etc., when there are no benefits at risk. MTs who don't keep any kind of schedule and expect to have work whenever they're ready are ruining things for the rest of us who are diligent.
I agree 100%. You people have absolutely no idea
of this person's capacity for selflessness and generosity, to the point of putting herself last in an effort to achieve many goals and in the face of adversities I wouldn't wish on the harshest critics here (although youse guys are tempting me!). If you didn't cut with through her, there is a reason for that and I know her employer cuts to the chase much more deftly than you would be able to withstand so I know she backs this recruiter 100%. They both can run circles around you. You have no idea how tightly knit some MTSOs are and the ones here bad mouthing this person won't stand a chance getting a job in certain places if their lives depended on it.
Go sell crazy somewhere else.
Absolutely I agree! Hindsight (sigh) ..sm
Yes, in hindsight I should not have done it. I had been in my office for days on end testing and testing. I remember it being very tough and took me a long time to finish. I was desperate (I guess) to seek my own accounts and thought this would be the first of many!
Never again! :)
agree with absolutely every thing said, and double on the rude staff...nm

I agree, absolutely agree
and I might say, this is keeping updated in ALLLL specialities and subspecialities, drugs, instruments, and on and on. It is not a good profession for sure and sadly it is the MTs who are being very definitely HAD
Agree, that is not true
Computer programmers are also sometimes IC status and blow past $50,000 per JOB sometimes with one company, so potentially could be making 4 times that (or more) a year. The last computer company I worked for was just a small outfit and paid their programmer well above $50,000 per year for years, IC. Employee status has nothing to do with income, but is about how the person is treated - scheduling, taxes, benefits, etc. If you have questions, go to the IRS website, or call them to get correct information.
I used to have a QA guy that couldn't transcribe, couldn't fill in a blank,
but was anal retentive when it came to punctuation. You would have a report with 10 blanks in it because of poor sound quality, and he wouldn't fill in one blank, but he had put commas all throughout your report, or taken apostrophes out, etc. and he wasn't correct in his punctuation a lot of the time. Several of the MTs complained about him and asked to not have him do their QA, so he was demoted from QA to an MT. Well, as I said earlier, he couldn't fill in a blank. I saw a couple of his reports and there was blank after blank in reports that I had no trouble with at all. He also didn't proof his reports because he would have inapproriate/incorrect expansions in them. Not sure if he left on his own, or didn't really have a choice. Anyway, talk to your supervisor. Maybe this person is just on a power trip, knows you are new and wants to train you to do it her way, even if your way isn't incorrect. I think punctuation is a valid issue, but if it doesn't change the integrity of the report and there are no other errors it shouldn't be flagged by QA. You could also take into account her corrections and maybe try to use a few more commas, etc. and that might help.
Oh, I couldn't understand them. I didn't try them all, but the first couple, I couldn't und
