Absolutely not and that's just based on the fact they do not pay spaces.

A space is a space and should be counted and companies who do not pay for this should lose out on all the good people. It just makes no sense.

I get spaces. In fact, when I look up my reports on DQManage, I
even get carriage returns paid! LOL
No kidding! I was shocked. It added up all the characters, numbers, symbols, spaces, and carriage returns and divides the entire number by 65!!!
I was very happy to see it! I know I have tried to count all my characters and spaces on three shorter reports. Did it by hand and I knew the numbers they were showing for my lines was higher than my own count. The carriage returns are why! LOL
I even get those funky symbols that the headings have before and after the words!
Not true. They pay based on a 65-char line with spaces.
nm
PS - pay based on 65-char line, SPACES INCLUDED. SM
Also paid for weekend work, 2nd and 3rd shift differential. Bonus plan based on production.
This is a fact and you might as well accept it for what it is -- FACT !
It would be a sevice that uses ExText, such as Keystrokes, and I don't know who else uses it. I would think that Keystrokes is as big or bigger than TT now, however, wouldn't you?
I think most places pay for spaces. I work for TransTech and they pay for both spaces
as well as punctuation. I would never work for an MTSO that doesn't.
65 with spaces versus 65 without spaces; how to calculate?
Can someone tell me if you are getting 9 cents per 65-character line with spaces how much you would need to be paid per line to make the same amount per line if you are offered a ''65-character line without spaces?'' Thank you very much
So, if not spaces paid, what cpl would be comparable to at least 9 cpl w/spaces, do you know??
Thanks.
All compaines count lines different--with spaces, without spaces, headers or no headers, 65 characte
a line, 75 characters, etc. I would ask each of them how they count their lines. Sometimes the way lines are counted does not make a company worth working for.
54 without spaces = 65 with spaces if you do the math nm

Very serious in fact.
They are advertising a nationwide position and then selectively weeding out geographical areas. They need full disclosure or maybe they need a big fat lawsuit. Either way, I'm not kidding.
I know for a fact that MQ wants my SM
hospital's transcription (I'm a hospital employee), but they won't take overflow only. They want it ALL and won't take the account unless they get rid of the hospital employees.
I know it can be done - but not at MDI-MD. This I know for a fact.
xx
it can be just because of the fact sm
that the work has to be done. BUT, it only turns into that if you let it.
What I have found after working for years and years as an IC that if you are an employee who puts out a high quality finished product and do your best that the companies (maybe not all of them) will usually go out of their way to make you happy.
There was a time when MQ before it was MQ and still Transcriptions Limited was such a company. This all makes me so sad that this company has been allowed to be destroyed like it has. I know there are folks who are still happy with it and I am glad, but for the ones who are not and especially those of us who were around for years and saw the other side of the company, it is very sad.
As far as IC status, its kind of a trade off really. You are giving up benefits etc to be able to be an IC and not have to have set hours. But you have to work those hours out for yourself. If you have to be an employee because of benefits then the trade off is not having much flexibility. Either way though you do have control in how you let folks treat you.
Well, I know for a fact that..........
they offshore A LOT of the work because I used to work for them for 2 years, and was always running out of work for a huge, huge account which they lost? More like they gave it to those overseas to do totally. When I did work for them, you could tell that most of that account was being typed overseas because when you had to access a former document in the Chartnet on a particular patient, it would bring it up, and actually seemed to be typed like the person did not know anything about English, let alone medical terminology which was atrocious!!
I have since moved on because I actually need to work!!
No I just know for a fact that
TTS treats their employees very poorly, does not pay on time, if ever. Will warn anyone I can to stay away from there. Not trying to jab at anyone, just trying to protect someone else from falling into that. Take a look at all the posts on this board, we can't all be wrong can we?
No it isn't; its fact
Some of us have no problem with facts.
I know for a fact that this happens...
one of the MTs I know who also does QA said she sees this all the time, that some QA people will just take out words or put in words to send the report through...so it does happen and I am sure this isn't the only company that this happens with.
what's a fact? nm
nm
fact is
Management can't let you know anything because they don't know themselves yet. They have to have work to survive first for themselves and then will give out the work to those who are still waiting for it. It you quit, you quit, just more work for them and when it picks back up they'll hire more if need be. What don't you get, happens with every company. They'll throw you a job here and there to keep you hoping and it's up to you to stay or go.
I believe it's also due to the fact that
some people (a lot of them on this board) will look for any reason to badmouth and complain. I don't come here often for that reason either. It gets really old and discouraging to see nothing but negativity and bashing each time I come here.
I am in fact an MT. Do you not know
what benefits your company offers?
This is very true. I know this for a fact.
x
It's a TRUE FACT
They change that divisor however they want. It's true. I know it for a fact. I hope to see them go under!
Fact or fiction?
Fact: It was posted on this forum that Karen, the ex-HR person, was let go on terms that were less than good.
Fact: It was posted on this forum that Karen, the ex-HR person, in fact stole HR files of new hires/possible new hires when she was let go. This was the reason/excuse why so many MTs who applied at KS during this time period were never contacted about their possible hiring/training.
Fact: I know this is fact because it happend to me while I was in the process of trying to "get hired."
Fact: In the last 3 years, there have been 2 pay decreases across the board at KS. This is also posted in the archives on this forum.
Fact: Last summer when the second pay decrease was implemented, it was brought out that there had been a first pay decrease before and Lee and other management people posted on this forum that this was not true. Well, we know that was a lie as the archives tell different.
Fact: We know that many, many people cannot get past the initial interview and actually work for KS because no one contacts them. This is also posted on this forum again and again.
Fact: We know that any time some MT tries to post an honest response about their unfortunate experience with KS, all KS management including the owner get on here and call the MTs liars and bash them, blaming them for being a bad MT.
What other facts should I get straight?
Fact or fiction?
Bravo!
Only thing you left out is the FACT that this entire thread will probably be deleted after your last stated fact has taken place.
Thank you!!!
Fact or fiction? Please sm
I have to add one thing. You can all take it or leave it at your own discretion. It is true, as Lee knows, and as does the moderator of this board.
Lee personally handed over my personal home phone number....yes.....complete, total lack of confidentiality in its utmost form as I know it to be......to the moderator of this board.
You may call it what you like. Perhaps they felt it was for the "good" or in my "best interest". The FACT remains that this was an unlawful, immoral, and blatantly disrespectful act on Lee's part. If Lee was so concerned, she should have called me herself rather than handing over my personal info to someone else.
Disagree if you will. I have no problems with disagreeing. I do, however, have a problem with anyone who hands over my information so quickly and willingly when she is by law instructed not to do so.
I rest my case. And, I'm sure this will be deleted, also. Sigh.......at least I finally got it out of my system!
Fact or fiction
Actually, I wasn't. In fact, I have always tried to be one of the peace-makers, believe it or not.
But, you're right. I do expect to be kicked out now.
Oh well........
I haven't. In fact...
the thought never even occurred to me till the other day when my Editor told me another girl on the account almost went with them but chose not to. She's now in the same boat I'm in and regretting it, I'm sure. My editor knew people who worked in-house for this account but have since lost their jobs and she has no way of finding out where this account went. I definitely can't ask the owner of the company I'm with because emails go unanswered 99% of the time.
I agree ... especially considering the fact
that all I was doing was interviewing. It was in poor taste, I thought, especially considering the fact that I am an IC working PT for Transcend! Struck me as rather ironic. But really, I've encountered a lot of interviewers making comments about MQ, but mostly just the fact that they feel sad for the MTs - nothing about the company itself, until this interview.
Yes, as a matter of fact I do. sm
I haven't worked for MQ, so they, indeed, may be better than MQ. However, I have countless accounts with Webmedx and still run out of work. I can do all work types. I bounce around on many accounts. I am completely out of work some days. It usually picks up later, but who has the kind of life that they can be around all day waiting for work to trickle in? And bouncing around on many accounts costs the MT.
And there are plenty of similar opinions if you simply look over the archives.
Here's an interesting fact....
http://www.transcribing.com/asmart/line_conversions.html
In the good old days we were paid 7 or 8 cents per GROSS line. So, even if an MT makes 10 cpl now, it is less than what we made then. And let's not forget the fact that a line was a line regardless of the amount of characters!
We're all just getting ripped off big time!
fact of life??
Currently, offshoring IS not a fact of life; however, it will become so if we all lay down, roll over, and beg for the profession to throw us the proverbial bone. I, too, have been in this business for almost 20 years, but there is no way that I will ever just roll over and play dead and just say it's a fact of life. If all of us have any passion for our profession, any compassion for our fellow man, any compassion for our fellow MT, QA, auditor, what have you, we all will not take this laying down, but will take Mary's initial letter from yesterday (can we Mary??) and send it to every senator, governor, any politician, newspapers, hospitals, clinics, etc., and get the word out to Joe Q. and Jane Q. Public, and see what everyone has to say about what has become the true fleecing of America.
I'll tell you what I don't understand; I don't understand why you are NOT outraged by the outsourcing of American jobs, any American jobs.
FACT is that was 3 years ago, sm
Things are completely different now. They screwed up, some people were let go after that happened. The MTs who did it under the table were just as guilty, they knew it was wrong and unethical. Things are not that way now at all. The only way people will know is if they try for themselves.
Why not look at it that they have embraced the fact
that the world is connected now, and everything is international. We are all in contact now and offshoring of all industries is here. Why not go with the times, stop being so prejudiced, and try to embrace change? It sure is not going to go back to the way it was. I just joined AAMT, and am glad I did. I am willing to accept change rather than keep fighting it. It is a battle already lost.

I do know for a fact, that they just acquired
a brand new HUGE account from a hospital in the state they are located with a few ESL docs and some very, very easy docs, along with radiologists that are super easy. Sweet account. Give them a try.
I hope this is okay to print because I'm not giving the name of the hospital.
What about the fact that you don't have to leave the
I know that 8-9 cpl is a little low but when you take into account the fact that you do not have to leave your house, I think that counts for something. If you went out to work, you have the expense of gas, travel time (not paid either way), lunch (usually not paid), need to buy clothing even if that is scrubes, put on a happy face, get along well with others, and when the work runs out on-site, it is gone. There is no room to make extra. You either take time off with/without pay when in fact if you were at home and the work runs out, you have the capability to take on more work. I think this field has branched out so much. It used to be included in a medical secretary's job description and pretty much performed right in the office. That does not seem to exist any longer. More and more this profession has become an entity in and of itself as has the medical profession. There are so many specialists now. I have seen this profession evolve. I see a doctor for this and a doctor for that. It used to be see one doctor, he/she dealt with the issue, end of story. This is no longer the case. Now you see the PCP (report generated in most cases), then you see the endocrinologist (report generated), cardiologist (report generated), ophthalmologist (report generated), dermatologist (report generated) and if you make it that far the psychiatrist (report generated). I don't mean to make things light folks and I am not a TT'er, but I just see that with time things change. How often has anyone who has been doing this for more than 25 years heard or ever saw for that matter an advertisement to work at home for doctors and healthcare facilities? Make money while working from home transcribing medical reports? There was a local hotel planning an entire day to have people come and get information on being a medical transcriptionist. The entire forum would be this subject. Can you imagine the people that go to hear what they could possibly do from home and make such great money? Come one, come all. It is open to everyone. All things considered this can be a good thing. The sacred field of medical transcription has flowered, blossomed, and become a really attractive to a society that is tired of traffic, gas prices, and being under the stress of working under the bosses' supervision. Okay, I think I'm off of my now. Have a great night!

Aside from the fact that you are right, was it necessary to be so cold?
If you have never experienced infertility, you should just keep your mouth shut. Sorry, just my opinion.
Yep, as a matter of fact
we had plumbers who were on call, had to call them one night with burst pipes inside the wall somewhere, ceiling was falling in above. Also had to call them out on Thanksgiving day one year after our pump got backed up in the basement guest bathroom, very bad mess (lived in the country then and they were kindly asked not to put ANYTHING down the toilet but the toilet paper provided). Plumber pulled out the pump and hauled it off clogged up with Tampax and cig butts, yuck, guests were a little embarrassed to say the least. Needless to say, that little episode cost us about 1000 bucks there. But guess what, they charge a pretty penny for these services, rightfully so, and although it set us back at a bad time, were glad to pay the extra cost for their STAT service after hours and a holiday. I know I always got paid well for being on call for the lab, nights and on holidays, althought as an employee. I wonder what would happen if I would say as an IC, my services will be such and such on Thanksgiving or after 6 p.m. or whatever. I still haven't been able to figure that one out! I know with one company I first started with told me I had to work every holiday if it fell on a day during the week when I was scheduled, end of story, so consequently, being naive, I did just that for 2 years with no extra compensation and usually no work. Sorry for the rambling, just ruminating on exactly where do we stand as ICs as compared to others, such as plumbers, and what is right and where does it cross over the line and what should we as MTs be doing about this, or is too far gone?
I know for a fact, this is SYNTHESCRIBE
nm
I did, twice in fact. Not sure how persistent to be. NM

The fact that she said *raised*,
as if by taking them to daycare 6 or 8 hours a day 5 days a week is considered raising kids, was rather insulting to all moms who have ever had to take their children to daycare. It's meant to cause guilt, which isn't what the OP needs right now.
Daycare facilities do not raise children. They care for them while their parents are working and trying their best to support them. In the end, it's the parents who make sure that their children are raised, not daycare.
What's wrong with that opinion?!
Eh, I don't think they love the fact we are on here either.
Maybe we should be typing LOL. see I have been here twice in an hour already. Of course, that's cause I'm in between reports and type fast but....

as a matter of fact...
I do. If the work is low, I try very hard not to take more than what I consider to be fair and to leave work for others. I see people scramble to get it all and the quality of the work suffers because people are in such a hurry to get everything they can that they are rushing around and thus making more mistakes. And I for one am sick of selfish people! What makes you think you are more important than anyone else?
