VR is not cost effective for MTs
I agreed to a certain amount for standard transcription and a certain amount for editing. You need twice the amount of minutes for editing to make what you need but the minutes aren't there. In any event, it is not worth it. I say look for another MT job that doesn't use VR or find another profession.
Never know till you try!
Thanks - that is exactly what I am going to do......what is bad for one person isn't necessarily bad for someone else. I have 20 years of experience with all sorts of systems, so I'm sure I will be okay.
How it is cost effective -- see inside
Why would any company care how long it takes for an MT to complete their work if they are paying by the line typed? I just posted that I would try and find the Advance article, but I believe it said that offshore MTs are only 25% productive as US based transcriptionists. I doubt that Transcend would risk lying on their SEC documents. There are many companies out there that send much more to India.
Bottom line, I am not sure why all of this is being brought up now and by people who state they do not even work at Transcend. I have a close knit team and we are all happy at Transcend. I never said they were perfect, and I am sure there are companies out there that compare, but it's a great fit for me.
... which is a pretty effective way of shutting people up,
An email would've been a better use of our time. Plus then we could just delete it.
It may till the next increment of that big acct.

Wait till you find out the pay. nm

Holy $&@! No wonder it is not cost effective to do VR. I make double that sm
for VR/ASR at WMX.
Thanks for the info. Guess I will wait till Mon.

Only about 8 more years till retirement, but I AM going to take the test. (sm)
Have never felt the urge to do so in the past, but the company I am working for now reimburses the testing fees and you get a small raise because you are a CMT. It all adds up to being beneficial for me money-wise, so.... I chose to do it for that reason and that reason alone.
February 1st
I think it happened on February 1st. I stopped getting work on that day, but nobody mentioned a word to me. Is this strange or what?
I believe they have until February 2
which I never understood how it got extended in the first place to the end of January. what if you owe taxes? It means you only have until April 15 to pay.
this is from the IRS website:
The first quarter of a calendar year is made up of January, February, and March.
During January:
All employers. Give your employees their copies of Form W-2 for 2008 by February 2, 2009. If an employee agreed to receive Form W-2 electronically, post it on a website accessible to the employee and notify the employee of the posting by February 2.
Been working for them since February
She is great to work for, pays once a week, always on time. IC status.
FYI - Page from February
Just bringing to your attention that the link leads to a page that has not been updated since February, 2008. A lot has changed since then and the productivity figures for editing have decreased, more closely equaling the transcription numbers.
Once you forward resume, how long till Futurenet gets back with you? nm
I cannot answer for February of 2005.
I was not employed there then. I have been there a little over 2 years. I can say when I started at Axolotl there were maybe 10 to 15 acute care MTs. We have more than doubled in size since then. I do know that if we had work outsourced to other companies, we would not have the amount of work to transcribe that is always here.
Axolotl is also an EMR provider and if you go to their website you can read all about that area of their business.
In my 15 years of being a trancriptionist, I have never found a better company to work for and this is why:
1. They treat their MTs like they should be treated.
2. They compensate MTs the way they should be compensated.
3. The platform is great.
4. We do not run out of work and they do not overhire.
5. They offer great benefits.
6. Great management and editors.
After reading so many horror stories on this site about some of the nightmares other MTs have gone through with other companies, plus the fact I have had a few myself, I am BLESSED to find such a great company.
Was a reference posted in February by an MTSO that it
search by key word _flying monkies_ and read the responses.
Can only find 1 poster recommending them from February. nm
