A lot of the time the insurance premium comes out

I am not the person above who is paying those premiums, but there are also flexible spending accounts that sometimes help with healthcare.  With MT, you can supplement very easily by taking overflow or having a small account on the side.  Some people tend to take extra jobs.  In all my years, I can honestly say that I have never worked only one MT job.  I have always held a full-time job with side accounts.  I fortunately can now work full-time from home as an independent contractor, but I prefer piece work and making my own hours for the sake of my children at least for now.  I plan to maybe go back to in-house but not strictly transcription once my children are older.  Who knows what the future holds?  I think if you are a single Mom and have the willpower you can make a go of MT as long as you budget and know what is needed to survive and not just what is wanted to survive if you know what I mean.  I would never trade being at home when my kids come through the door for school for all of the money in the world.  I love it and so do they.

OSi with part time health insurance and paid time off
OSi does offer health insurance and paid time off for part time.  Yes, there have been changes.  Yes, there will probably be more changes.  I don't see anywhere that hasn't had changes.  If they don't change they will be out of business the way the economy is these days, just like some other companies.  If they don't make money, then I don't make money.  So, what is so different with OSi compared to other companies?  I see complaints constantly about all companies.  I don't think it is the fault of the company that they outsource or use voice recognition.  It just is life on life's terms these days.  There is still enough work for us, at least for me.
insurance for part time
Does anyone offer health insurance for part timers?  I'm working for Zylomed (radiology) and am happy there, but will be going off of Cobra soon and need benefits and they only offer them to full timers (and that's just becoming available).
Part time with insurance?
Anyone know of a company where you can work part time that offers insurance? (yeah, I'm probably dreaming).
Yes, time clock. No insurance or any benefits for parttime.

Last time I talked with them, nothing had changed, insurance still way too expensive. nm

Ha! There was a spoof on SNL a long time ago, something like Dave's insurance. sm
I've been burned by insurance companies before, so I understand.
Any companies offer health insurance for part time?

MDI-FL. Last time I checked their medical insurance for families was expensive. Has that changed or
is it supposed to. I know at one point a recruiter told me they were working on making it more affordable but I never heard anything more. That is a big factor for me. I need affordable insurance for my family. Thanks for any input.
After 90 days full time, you are eligible for health insurance, 401k, Aflac, sm
and life insurance. One year for PTO. Direct deposit right away.

I am happy at Keystrokes, and happy with the benefits. The insurance is a little high, but my husband has a union job and it would cost us more to have him carry all of us.

The HappyKeystrokes poster seems to give a lot of misinformation. I have as much work as I can handle, but I do not type 350 lph or whatever amount she/he claims. I average 200 lph, up a little some days, down a little other days, but that depends on the doctors dictating, my motivation for the day, etc. Spring is the worst as I have hayfever and headphones bother my ears right now.

My check is right, is on time and is direct deposited. My taxes withheld are correct and SS has been paid (unlike somewhere else I worked that messed up my SS and did take out for state taxes). My lead is supportive and I think the company cares about their employees. I am happy with Keystrokes and cringe when I see posts like Happy Keystroker writes, which make us all look like Stepford Wives. This is a job, just with a company that I like working for.

I wanted to paint a more realistic picture.
The premium is sm
275.00 for family per pay period. You won't be paying 1000.00 for family coverage. The yearly deductible is 1000.00, and these are both stated very clearly in the paperwork. Go back and re-read all the paperwork. Right now, you pay 213.83 per payperiod for family coverage.
It could be to keep the premium in the SM
same ballpark as it was.  I know TransHealth just changed from Blue Cross to another company because they couldn't keep the coverage without the premiums going way up (and they are in Tennessee also).
They pay 25% of the premium. nm

There is a difficulty premium
rate for jobs that are rated more difficult than others. You get paid more but the difficulty decision is made higher up, you will know before you start that job whether they are higher pay or not. It doesn't sound like we have imput in this process but not sure.
It's $1000, and you would't believe what the premium is. nm

Do you know what the single premium is and when it
n/m
What is the single premium?
I was checking out their website last night and going to sites trying to get some feedback on the company, looks promising.
Anyone know what the single premium is for
nm
They would have to pay a premium for STATs.
just have 24-48 hour turnaround. Whatever platform the hospital has, all they have to do is make sure their IC's have copies. The dictation would get to the IC electronically, just as it does with MTSOs.

But the gray areas aren't really what I was talking about. What I was wondering was, how many hospitals or clinics would want their work 100% Indian-transcribed? Especially if a bill were passed so that patients had the option to say whether their work was offshored or not. I know I, as a patient, would rather my op report or H&P were being typed by an English-speaking, accountable, AMERICAN independent contractor, than in some lawless foreign country 6,000 miles away.
Who figures out the difficulty premium

see in the packet about difficulty premium and pay, but is every single dictator being assessed and listened to somehow and who is determining the difficulty?

Premium Business Services
Anyone working for Premium Business Services?
I think you're confusing the deductible with the premium. sm

Family coverage is not $1000 a month in premiums.

Yikes, does the company contribute toward your premium? sm
Wow, seems very high.  I've heard of $300 - $400 for a family plan monthly but never double. I know that a lot of places feel that you as the MT are saving travel, clothing, lunch money and getting a lot of perks working from home, but so are they by you doing it!  I do know plenty of people do work just for benefits though. If you're working for needed income just as much as benefits though....I'd check around.  Wow again!  Company I just got an offer from (didn't take it, they're bad) offered full family bennies for just over $300/month and it was a decent plan - good co-pay, deductible, etc. But it is one of the bigger MTSOs.  If it is a smaller one, they may not be contributing, just offering it to you.  It is possible to find one that contributes monthly toward your premium.

401k funds are protected by govt insurance similar to the insurance
that banks have (FDIC). It is safe even if the company goes under.
The insurance cost is double for Transcend but insurance probably doesn't factor in for her.
I have heard more good things about Axolotl than Transcend, although it seems Axolotl may be less flexible with your schedule and someone told me that QA was pretty strict, which should not matter either if you have worked for a hospital and know what your QA score is.
The insurance plan in my opinion is excellent insurance. I am not sure if it will change when it'
time to renew or not. I really hope not but I know that a lot of companies change every year in an effort to keep costs down because most insurance companies start raising rates after you have been with them a year. The insurance is Great West and they also have excellent dental and vision plans. I believe the cost is less than $70 a pay period for the employee.
Insurance sucks compared to my old insurance... sm
The insurance seems like they don't want to cover anything, even simple prescriptions I used to pay 4 or 10 dollars on I now pay 20 to 43 dollars.  I like the company/people so far, just don't like the insurance.
Insurance Questions: Can you tell me what you pay for insurance through your

MTSO, which MTSO it is and whether the coverage is decent?  I currently pay $92.00 a pay period for decent coverage but am trying to figure out if I am getting a good deal or if I could do better elsewhere.

TIA.

I'm lookin for part-time work (about 3-4 hrs daily) after 13 years of full-time, anyone know of a
company that is hiring flexible part-time?  I'm starting a career in real estate but don't want to totally quit transcription, but I think most places require 25 hours a week and I cant work weekends, as real estate sales are the biggest on the weekend with open houses and people off work to shows homes to.  If you know of a place I'd sure appreciate the info.  Thanks!
MDI-Maryland is an excellent company, pay on time all the time, great line rate.
I left also because I went out and got my own client(s).
They are very nice people.

The only negative I can think of were the e-mails from the owner say work, work, work, we are out of TAT.

Other than that, which is very minor, it was a good experience.
Not what I was told; 3500/wk part-time & 6000 wk/full-time. nm

Precyse Solutions is hiring part-time and full-time right now.

i work 3 part-time jobs now. it can be confusing if you are learning both at the same time, but sm
other than that not a problem for me. best to get one down before starting to other or you might become overwhelmed.
MDI-MD: What are daily line requirements for full-time/part-time? Thanks! nm
nm
I have one full-time job and 2 part-time jobs. It can be tricky at times, sm
but at least I now have plenty of work always. I have some big financial goals, and right now that seems to be the only way to accomplish it.  I can't see any reason why it would not be legal -- why would you say that?  I am cheating no one, except myself (out of sleep and a social life).  Fortunately, I am single with no children or anything.  I cannot imagine doing this if I had a family.  At least my dogige understands.
I've been there quite a while, pay on time, growth spurt right now, so good time to get on board,
new accounts and lots of work, and before someone says it, I'm not management, just an employee.
per his request I told him Time To Call, he called Not That Time, emailed me
nm
Full time/part time based on # hours or
# lines per pay period, nothing to do with quality. The lower the quality the higher the pay it seems.
Solution: Find another job, part time or full time.
Post your resume, hope for the best.
Depends on how flexible you need to be and if full-time or part-time
They are a little more flexible if you are part-time.  Not so much full-time, where you can be a little flexible within the day (not a strict 8-5), but if you are scheduled for Monday, you have to work Monday unless you request off, and if you are scheduled for a Holiday, you have to work the holiday, unless you request off.  They encourage you to clock out every time you are not typing to keep your lph rate up, which means an 8 hour day can turn into 12 hours at the computer.  If they run out of work (which they do quite often), you have to make the time up.  They are also leaning more towards Voice Recognition, so MTs are getting trained on that, but not sure what percent will go that way.  It does affect how much work you may get though in the other accounts.
They are advertising for full time HIM now, do they still hire part time? nm

Any companies out there where you do not have to fill in a time sheet or on a time clock?
I would like to do my lines and be done, and still get my benefits.  Any companies out there that go by line production rather than hours to qualify for bennies?
My thoughts exactly, why waste my time when you know you are only hiring full time? nm
