A little info on Task Force Pro and America's Pride

In Reply to: anyone try them? - Task Force and America's Pride
I don't have any info on them from personal experience but did find this info on a search. I'm assuming I'm allowed to place these links.
VERY interesting article. Sounds America's Pride had a contract with Medquist who was accused of sending active and inactive veterans' info overseas to be transcribed. Don't know the outcome, but for your reading enjoyment:

If anyone is or has worked for them I would also be interesting in hearing about them.

I can't find anything on the web and know only that they type VA records. Has anyone ever worked for them? How are they to work for? Do they hire IC/FT/PT/statutory? How are the line counts, platform, etc? Any info would be greatly appreciated. TIA

Additional info on Task
I have been pretty proficient in this type of transcription for about seven years and it sounds like it is what they mostly offer. What is the low pay scale they offer and what type of a payment delay is expected if I decide to take on this company. How long have you worked for them? Thanks for the info! amj

NEED INFO ON MEDTRANS OF AMERICA
Regarding the help wanted post on the job board from 11/16, I am seeking information on Medtrans of America. Fair? Pay on time?
any NEW info on MedTrans of America???
I realize 7cpl is low, but M-F and the TAT is perfect for what I need so I'm okay with the low cpl. Just need to find out about the pay issues and any other pros or cons associated with them. TIA!!!!
I have far too much pride in my work
to put my name/initials on a report that's not the best I can make it.
Now, that's not to say that occasional errors slip through. Of course they do. Not long ago, I e-mailed QA because I'd pulled up one of my own earlier jobs from the same day--and saw a big boo-boo in it where I had used the wrong expansion (mechanical valve instead of mechanical ventilation or something like that). The QA person alerted the client, pulled up the job, corrected the error, and sent the revised job back.
On this platform we cannot see other people's work; but when I was working locally, I would see crazy mistakes all the time in reports that came in from the hospital. Ironically, I couldn't get hired there myself because at the time, I had no acute care experience, only a mere 36 years of clinical....
Also, if MTSOs want MTs who are loyal, hardworking, and take great pride in their jobs by truly ....
dedicating themselves to knowlegdge and producing correct, Grade A reports, then how about paying us as the highly-trained, skilled, hard-wokring, tecnical, workers we are....we are expected to always stay abreast of every medical procedure, drug, medical instrument, operatative procedure, and special procedures, in every specialty (especially for those of us doing acute care and surgical, also radiology/nuclear medicine), we must update references, computes, learn new platforms, train our ears to decipher the SLOPPIEST, LAZIEST, RUDEST dictating physicians, not to mention all the various dialects and accents from all over the world, have superior knowlegein grammar, punctuation, and style....there are highly-paid executives who cannot keep up with what we do, honestly. We have sold ourselves short for way too long, back when I first came home out of hospital, I was lucky to get 6.5cpl, back in 1994, doing all acute care, had 7 different hospitals, we were one of the first live systems. I was out of work, and after getting my associates, being a part of the AAMT (who never helped me personally), 28 years of in-house training, radiology, surgery, etc., it took me months to get someone to pay me what my knowlege/dedication/experience warranted, I still had MTSOs offering 6 and 7 cpl......what??? and I am an IC right now! I finally found an MTSO who is paying 12cpl, and I work my tail off for her, love the company, but I still believe by and large that we are being fed CRUMBS OFF THE TABLE. How do I know? I have a friend who has a company with 75 MTs, I see what she bills and what she pays, and I also know what other companies are making off our backs. Not all MTSOs, to be sure, but most. And remember MTSOs, a lot of us old-timers who were trained in hospital and college, are going to retire, if you want to attract really good young MTs for your company, you had better take a better look at your bottom line and what you are investing in...IMHO!
It's called "professional pride" - people proud of the way "they" do things.
You can't win with these types of people, and I think you're right, it's trivial nonsense. Best thing to do is leave and find a more reasonable employer - they're out there.
TASK
Any info out there on TASK out of California? Thanks!
TASK
It is transcription typing for attorneys and the pay was 7 cpl and not sure if it included spaces or not. I sent my resume and when they contacted me via phone they told me it was the 7 cpl rate.
TASK
Then the pay has gone down. I worked there about a year ago briefly, and the pay then was 8 cpl. But they are very disorganized, you're a month in the hole on your paycheck, if you get your paycheck, and they can't seem to pull their heads out of their butts. The work was fun. TAT was strict, but doable. They just couldn't seem to get it together. A friend of mine worked for them for almost two years and she recently quit because she got tired of the constant state of confusion. I would find another legal company or general transcription company to work for, if you don't want to do med.
Task
I heard from Task about two weeks ago. I also received the information packet and I do believe she told me it was 7 cpl also. She seemed very interested and wanted to interview me. I had told her when I submitted my resume that I wanted to work approximately 20 hours a week and she seemed fine with it. When I spoke to her for all of 1 minute she decided that she needed more of a time commitment and since I already have two jobs I wasn't able to commit to more hours at this time. If you look back at the archives I think there are posts regarding non-payment

Feedback on TASK
Thanks for your feedback. amj
Medi-task
I was contacted today by this company, and in trying to determine how they reached me I searched the job listings and found nothing, any clue on who and how they are? I find it interesting that I have not posted my resume and they make contact.
They stated they got my resume off mtjobs, but again they do not even have a listing there, past or present that I see for me to review.
Any information would be helpful.
pro med or medi-task???
I have been contacted by both companies and just checking to see if anyone knows anything good/bad about them or at least credibility? Thanks!
All the commands are on the task bar at the top...sm

Medi-Task - NOT HOUSTON
From time to time, I search these boards for any posts regarding my company, MediTask. Yeah, I know I'm late (really late) posting, but some time back someone had asked about my company, asking if it was the one in Houston, owned by Matt Read, or what. Nope - not me. Here's my story:
I own Medi-Task (Hill Country, TX). I started this business in Houston in 1989, and moved to the central Texas in 1995, selling that portion of my business to Matt Read. He didn't change the name (another whole story there) but just added -"Houston" to the end of it. I fielded calls and inquiries for a long time until they died out. I understand he sold that business several months ago. I've tried calling but they sometimes have a message giving a pager number (?). Ouch... I wish people weren't confusing the two companies!
Being an MTSO, I did hear things through the grapevine to the tune of MTs not getting paid, or paid on time... I can't really comment on that because I had nothing to do with how Matt ran his business, and basically kept my nose to the grindstone where growing my business was concerned. So, you'll have to raise those questions with someone else who was really there.
MediTask (my company) has clients in 7 states, and MTs in as many. We're a smaller, close-knit group. My MTs have never gone without pay, and I believe in behaving honorably in those matters. My reputation is important to me, and I hope to never see any negative about myself or this company. But, people are funny - - some move from company to company peddling their wares (which are sometimes rusty), and then get bent way out of shape when their services are no longer needed. Some are just bent on getting out of shape. However, that said - I have MTs who have been with me a long, long time. In fact, the first MT I ever brought on board in 1989 is working with me today. Others have been on board since '92 and '94, 99, etc.
All the MTs here are subcontractors, so I don't offer the big perks that the nationals do. Sometimes I feel bad about that (and have lost great applicants who are looking for more), but also understand that there are pros and cons to both ways. There's not a corporate bone in my body, and I never really want all the headaches associated with handling a huge company. I like it smaller where we all know each other's names, and work close as a team. We actually get together whenever we can in Austin or Marble Falls - that's pretty cool.
No one asked me, but I thought I might clear the air on the "MediTask Houston or Austin or what?" posts, let ya'll (yep, I'm from Texas) know who I am, and what this company is about. I'm proud to be associated with the people who work with me, and so lucky to have such dedicated, helpful, spirited, intelligent colleagues such as them. I'm blessed.
Anyone who has curiosity beyond this, I'm happy to answer any questions I can.

When our US force was defunct...
They gave us the option of applying for unemployment, and some MTs did. It was part of some layoff option in the unemployment aspect. Otherwise, we had 60 days to find another job.
I like the word force. How about we
FORCE THEM (whoever they are)
to guarantee us a paycheck, with full-time lines, good pay, and um, er, WORK. Hmmm?
Sorry for the all caps. Just the forcing credentials business is pushing it. Not a good time to be bugging a work force which is putting up with enough already. IMHO
All a union is going to do is force more
work to go offshore. I work for a company that keeps 100% of the work in the U.S., pay better than 99% of the companies out there, pays for downtime, has great benefits and they pay for most of them 100% - all without a union.
Do they force you to do VR at a cut rate?
x
I always force the issue and ask what their pay is....
although I don't apply to IC-only companies - I never like their offer, and know the IRS rules to the nth degree. However, I do think one should have an idea of the range of pay before proceeding with any further testing - saves me and the recruiter time, IMO!
K-Force Staffing.......PSM
Hi! Any new reports on K-Force staffing. I am currently working and reasonably happy, but I received a call out of the blue on an old resume that was banked on Yahoo, and a lady called me, very interested, just the right candidate for immediate full-time radiology position, the whole 9 yards. BUT I have read several older posts from 2005-6 where there were negative things said. Anyone currently working for this company, what is the scoop, I would really, really appreciate it so very much, don't need to make a bad move at this stage of the game!!!!
K-Force is the only company that I am aware of
that advertises for traveling transcriptionists. From what I have read about them it isn't something I recommend, you have to front expenses, takes a while to get reimbursed, pay isn't anything special, etc.
With the internet it has pretty much eliminated the need to bring in transcriptionists.
can't force a huge boulder to
move unless you have a good lever system, if you know what I mean... Anyway, the company doesn't have a good explanation, which is the main reason behind the research.
If the work force is so intelligent, why do they
themselves to be victims. Doesnt sound so intelligent to me.
K-force. They hire traveling MTs. www.kforce.com I think. nm

Do they force people to work holidays or take volunteers?

Reading some of these posts, I see management is out in full force
trying to run damage control. No MT who just got her pay cut is going to say, yay, who cares if I'm going to be making less money, this great company is still paying slightly more than some of those fly-by-night companies, and I luv my new paycut....
