You sound like a person with good business sense. I would like to work for you or with you. I bet you have been around the MT block a few times, as have I. I will break my neck (and have) for companies that treat me well. I will give absolutely 100%. But I expect in return to be treated like a human being, not a machine. There is a place where the keyboard ends and the person begins and some people (perhaps the MTSO in ICMT's original post) forget that you love people and use things; not the other way around. I think you have nailed it on the head. Quid pro quo is very much the way it is--or should be. And I have become mindful over the years that we teach people how to treat us. We have to set boundaries and speak up when something is not acceptable. Sometimes that is all it takes. Many times employers are like my little grandson (8 years old)--they will test you and test you to see how much they can get away with. You just have to say NO sometimes and that ends it.

A. Sertive, the joke is on me
Once again there was not enough work for me to make my lines today, and I have been right here, typing away and minding my screen all day. I have loved this company, but I am mindful that mortgage notes are to be paid monthly, that banks get angry (rightly so) when you are late, and that having a family means having all kinds of expenses. I had at least hoped to get the minimum lines today, but this answers my own question. Yes, I will stay with MDI, yes I will work hard for them and give them my best effort as I always have, but YES, I will keep my second gig as well. Cannot afford not to, sadly enough. I need the security of two jobs, apparently.
