If it is, you might consider a career change. I have done 1200 on some really bad programs (Spheris, Softscript) with no problem. Company I work for now, I get 1900+ every day, 8 hours.

0.085, but I am averaging 1200 lines in less than 5 hours - sm
and I have only been on the account for 4 months. Personally, I do not think $20/hour is all that bad, do you??? Consider this, most hospitals are hiring at $12-13/hour in the south where I'm located.
I do 1200-1300 lines in 5-6 hours. I am not very fast
though. My fingers are getting old :)
Low line counts - difficult to make 1200 lines in 8 hours. sm
25 years of experience as an Acute Care MT and I had a difficult time getting 200 lph with Bayscribe. Any other accounts with other companies, I could easily transcribe 350-400 lph. Not at MDI - very difficult. I loved the account, but again it was difficult to get a decent line count.
It doesn't matter if you pay me 11 cpl if I can't get a decent line count. Couldn't take the 3 x day e-mails either.
Bayscribe stinks!
My company is 1200 lph. I think 1000 to 1200
lph is the usual range. Mine is straight typing.
Sorry, I work 15 hours a day 5 days a week and 5 hours the other 2, when I come here I dont proof.
nm
Why would they give you a choice of 16 or 24 hours. Usually part time is anything under 37 hours.
That is extremely odd. Well they must have something up their sleeves. Well I will be working elsewhere part time as well as with MQ as I have no intention of sitting 40 hours with no work from Amherst and be expected to have 150 lph with no work. What is all this window of work time they said they would be giving everyone. I figured all along they would do away with SE. I have already been looking around and ordered a new computer to send theirs back.
Any companies that allow line count rather than hours or less than 20 hours per week? (sm)
Wouldn't mind having something extra especially with Christmas and general winter expenses coming up but working a FT job and really don't want to do another 20 hours on top of that.
the day has 24 hours, I work only 6-8 hours, so, lots of time to post...nm
nm
Must we choose either 8, 16 or 24 hours. Why would they want someone only working 8 hours a week.
That is less than SE are required now.
MDI-FL. Approximately 7 hours a month x12 months =84 hours
And your PTO acrues from day 1. You are just unable to utilize it until after 90 days. They have excellent benefits.
You can have insurance at 30 hours with Encompass, 32 hours with eTransPlus. nm
only 1200?
How many lines can you type a day when you spend most of the day waiting for work to come in?
In their ad it says 7.4-8.5 cpl, 1200 lpd, and you use their computer. Don't know more. nm
,
You get for over 1200 lines a day
and this is just MT, ME is different and too complicated. MT gets for over 1200- extra penny, 1301-1450 +0.015 per line, 1451-1550 +0.025 per line and so on. But on DEP what are the chances of this?? I hope good but hear not so good. plus to move up a pair tier from 1 to 2 and so on must pass test and have AVAILABLE POSITION IN HIGHER TIER, must meet work availability and must be manager approved. So just getting better at your job doesn't make you automatically move up.
I am over 60, so $1200 a month is a little on the
aa
1200 day x 5 - 6000 (I think) nm
nm
ditto, 1200 nm

1200 lines per day (nm)

only 1200 lines
ONLY 1200 lines you say? When you sign on in the morning and work 45 minutes, then run out of work for most of the day...........are you able to type 1200 lines? That would translate into 1200 lines per hour, can you do that?
1200 lines or more
Now, tell me this, how does a company expect you to have 1200 lines a day when all dictators are foreign, have to download the report to type, which takes a while to download, not because my computer is slow, but it does show slower in the other side, and when the transcriptionists do not type the hard reports get to be the first ones to come up? I am not a perfect transcriptionist, nor a slow typist, but it takes me one hour and about 40 minutes to type 150 lines....frustrated!!!!
1200 lpd, 7.4-8.5 cpl, using ExText software. nm

A local cc (NC) costs about $1200. The
local state supported 4-year university now offers an on-line MT program too and I think it is about $1800.00. The cc arranges internships and helps with job placement, don't know about the 4-year school as it is a relatively new program and I am not familiar with it.
12,000 lines/pay period not 1200
I'm sure it was a typo, and I'm not picking on anyone, but I just want to clarify that it is 12,000 lines per pay period that is required of an SE which is roughly 1200 lines a day. Hope this helps!
1200 lines/pay period?? nm
x
1200 lines a pay period
The requirement for direct deposit is 14,000 lines a pay period CONSISTENTLY, so in breaking it down over a 13-14 day period, a bit over 1,000 lines a day -- hope you can brush up on you math too
My last job paid no incentive until 1200
(just the hourly) and only 5 cpl for lines over 1200.
More than 1200 lines a week?
so what's the point in being so rude to wandering MT?
not true - I do 1200 lpd and got a raise
x
Thanks..1200/day no prob. Can you tell me more about schedule with Ax? Thanks again SM
Is it hard to get time off? I may need a few days off in the first year. I have a supervisor now who is a pain, so I'm not too worried about that aspect.
I hit 1200 lines a day easy, sm
I hit 1200+ daily at Axolotl. I was reaching my line counts within the first week. As stated in another message, it could be the difference in accounts/dictators. I work on several accounts though.
I don't know about computer/VR but never heard of 1200
xx
1200 lines per day for VR is extremely low.
With VR, a person should be doing at least 2000+ per day. You're kidding yourself if you think you will find a VR job that only requires 1200 or less!
I'm FT and it's 1200 lines...Not sure what PT requirement is (nm)
:-)
Average of 1200 lines per day.
x
10-15 an hour for 8 hours is better than nothing for 8 hours when there is no work.
x
I do 1200 lines a day in 2 hospital accounts and I can
usually get my work done in 4 to 5 hours. BUT, if the kids are around or whatever, then of course, it takes quite a bit longer. Also, I have a lot of Instant Text saved etc. and normals that my doctors repeat in their reports.
Might have to use THEIR puter, 1200 lpd. Posts from last year say pay is very low. nm
s
pretty sure they require 1200 lines/pay pd for SE (nm)
x
I thought the line requirement was 1200 for SE - sm
Do you have any idea why this person above is saying 1400 lines/pay period and telling me to brush up on my math skills? I'm confused! I only want to do 1000 lines per day right now, at least until my youngest is off to Kindergarten! I guess it depends on how easy it is to make 1200 lines/pay period. I could give it a shot to try for their incentive bonus and if I find I am doing it consistently, maybe change my status. Thanks for your help!
Full time = 1200 lines per day. nm
xx
MedQuist requires 1200 lines a day
I do voice recognition and am only required to do 1200 lines a day, 12,000 per pay period.
1200 lines at 3 cpl equals 36 bucks
You can work at 7-11 for that kind of money.
Wait, you can only type 1200 lines a day?
You can't type more?
Guess 1200 is better than a sharp stick in the eye
or nothing at all. Wait till they discontinue your benefits because you don't make hours requirements, then you'll have a couple hundred dollars a month more in your pocket.
Old posts say use their puter, 1200 lpd, low pay, and slow to start. Don't know about now. nm

Rent where I live is apx. $1200-1250/mo, 1-bdrm. (sm)
Where I live the average is about $1200/mo. for a 1-bedroom apt.
If I could get the lines/day, I'd be doing better. But I frequently get up in the morning, sit down to work, and there is nothing 'til maybe noon. Other days, there's plenty.
We're paid by the keystroke, so it's something like 1/10th of a cent, or something like that. Comes out to something like $6.50/hour if you're spending much time researching drugs, terms, etc. (Difficult but interesting and challenging accounts.) There are incentives, bennies, etc., but it's hard to even meet the minimum if the work ain't there when you need it.
In all other respects, this is a great company, and I'd hate to leave 'cuz I just started this summer. And they actually offer more than many others do. It's just that OVERALL, the MT field is not only not keeping up with the cost-of-living, it's declining. And everything else has gone up. A box of cereal is close to $5. Gas is $3.65/gal. Thank goodness I live in CA where I can get by without heating my home. (Also expensive). Oh well. I guess I should've stayed in college longer than just 2 years........
For companies that hire FT 1000-1200 lines, what happens when
Due to low work or a particularly bad day maybe in which you struggled with difficult physicians? I am an IC so never had to deal with how many lines to get in a day or having to keep up with a certain quota. I am not particularly interested in any insurance or anything but perhaps PTO and 401k, so taking a look around and trying to figure it all out. Thanks MTs!
OOOPS! Major typo there! It should be 1200-1300/mo.
=
Old posts show they want 1200 lpd and that the work load was very uneven. nm
s
Make sure you ask what the required lines per day is. Could be 1200-1800 or higher. nm
s
Newbie bud was told 1200 lpd, THEIR computer, low pay. Poor communication from the start. nm
