In other allied healthcare professional organizations, there seems to be unity among peers to keeping jobs, American jobs, standing strong together to keep our monetary compensation a living American wage, and making sure there are benefits for a job well done. Medical transcription has always been the stepchild. AAMT was supposed to help us, not join AIHMA in saying yessum, yes mam, yes sir, to large greedy, powerful corporate CEO's, and that is exactly what has happened.
The powers that be don't like outspoken MTs, they want the transcriptionists to shut up.
I will say this, the internet has opened Pandora's box allright. There have been advantgages and disadvantages to us MTs. Corporate greed cannot have it all their way. The internet may have aided in taking our jobs away, but by the same token if it were not for the internet we would not be able to post here regarding cheesy companies and scandalous practices that are meant to intimidate and deceive. In a world where communication is key, there is more and more deceit from these cheesy national transcription companies who intimidate those who speak out and share information about the terrible practices going on at companies that lie with no regard to ethics. Why, it has become so rare for a company to be honest about anything. I'm sick of it all - overhiring, questionable line count pay, offshoring and lying about it, disorganized QA, etc., etc.
