My guess is M-F. early mornings. nm

Started early 2004 and left late 2006..nm

Let me guess, company started with a K?

Offshoring MT has been going on since the 1980s if I understand correctly. SM
It picked up big time in the 1990s, follow the money. It also has been done in prisons. When I first heard about that I was shocked, but it seems as nothing can shock me anymore.

I know about our tax returns being offshored, and things the above poster mentioned. I had to call a CC company the other day, and the call center was in India. I cut that CC up promptly (probably to my benefit anyway, LOL), and I know a lot of computer call centers are in India.

I wish I had an answer for all this. I know it's a global economy. We are going to have to adapt and it's scary.

As far as the AAMT or whatever it's called now, that is very disappointing. The word American shouldnt even be in their name.
That was "all some!" nm
x
how do you get calls from "all over the country" sm
if you don't advertise or anything? Wow, you must be out of this world!
No, we are no "all running OT". On most accounts, there is not enought work to go around sm
as usual.  Same old, same old.  They overhire and the loyal employees cannot even get in their required 35 hours.
could not find anything in archives regarding "All Type". Anyone have info on.....

Do they only hire employees, or IC's also:  What platform do they use:  Are they a good company to work for?

Any information would be appreciated.  Thanks.

RE: could not find anything in archives regarding "All Type". Anyone have info on.....
From their web site: At ALL TYPE, our goal is to recruit and retain the very best medical transcriptionists. We would like you to consider joining us. If you qualify, you would be a welcome part of our team of highly trained Medical Transcriptionists (MTs). ALL TYPE transcriptionists enjoy the flexibility of being in an at-home environment as full-time employees or if you prefer, as independent contractors. Our staff retention rate is high for good reason. Our MTs say they have never worked in a happier group or for a company that attended to their issues in such a responsive way. As a matter of fact, many of our new MTs are referrals from our existing MT staff. See what our people say....(click here)

We pay our MTs highly competitive rates.
You have the opportunity for career advancement.
You'll use cutting-edge technology.

this cracks me up "ALL my current accounts..are .wav formatted."
the OP says, However, ALL my current accounts and most of my accounts throughout my career are .wav formatted.  And I started with tapes and a Selectric typewriter. Oh, and the word ergonomic had not been invented yet...uphill both ways, ya know
will be offshored.
x
I don't see how this could be offshored at this point
or in the future. It is really much more intricate than MT as you have to know coding assigned by individual states as allowed by Medicare, and you pretty much have to know all Medicare/Medicaid regulations and independent insurance company regulations. Because of the oath you take when you become certified and because you have to be physically available IF a monetary/or jail term penalty is issued, I don't think employers would take the chance with coding that they do with MT. See, when it comes to getting paid for services, employers aren't as willing to take chances.

Oh, other employers who need coders are insurance companies and medical office management companies.

good luck,
d~
LINK TO WHAT ELSE IS OFFSHORED

I have spent the last hour doing research on offshoring of medical transcription.  This is one of the sites that I found and now they do our taxes and legal stuff too?  Some of the ones I found also offshore to Russia and China!  Check this link out and look to the right of the page to see what else they are doing.  They even listed some of the MTSOs and will sell you articles and information on their plan of action or whatever they call it.

VA accounts cannot be offshored
- so that could not have been the excuse given by the previous company/employer I mentioned.  I know this is a huge factor for most companies providing quality work from quality MTs.  Really is a sad situation all around.  Sure don't see my medical bills decreasing and I prefer someone qualified and, because they are, hopefully adequately paid to type my medical records.
offshored to India.....
Why do you automatically assume that an Indian or any foreign employer will be hostile?
By not accepting to work for a foreign employer, you shoot youtself into your foot; because if you don't accept as an US MT the work, then they will be forced to offshore. It is the other way around, so much work is outsourced, because many US MTs refuse to work for 'hostile', foreign employers.

On top of this, there is literally no middle class in India; the gap between rich and poor is immense. The poor people who manage to get a good education are struggling for jobs, and they are good. There are IT experts who cannot find a job, students who studied a
couple of semesters of medicine, cannot work as a physician, start a career in medical transcription. And they are good, hardworking and very cheap; they are happy to survive.

Mexican do the work US citizen do not want to do, it is too 'low' for them.
Reading all these negative comments from US MTs, make me wonder if the profession of MT will go down the same road and will be given to people who are ready and 'eager' to take this kind of work.
What does scoping pay? And does it get offshored?

Perhaps recruiting has been offshored?
amn
I want to add: An US MT newbie would know, an offshored MT probably not..nm
nm
I thought AllType offshored?
nm
They might be offshored BUT they drove down prices when they were sm
able to be sent offshore, prior to the VA system getting wise. Until 15 months ago, keeping the work in the USA was not a requirement for VA accounts. You had to be a US company but could have anyone do the work.

Most facilities don't know their work is offshored
the MT dept. head knows about it and nobody else. That's pretty evil. Hadn't thought about that.
All easy dictators are offshored

I was part of a package that Transcend purchased. We were all assured there would be no changes, which was initially true for several months........then the massive offshoring became more and more noticable. One account would have hundreds of jobs in the evening; at 5 AM there was nothing left and if there were any jobs available they were  very difficult dictators.

It got to a point where any audible dictator was offshored and there were no decent dictators left. You also had to be flexible waiting for work. Sometimes you would have to wait 4-5 hours for jobs to be available. Then your health insurance was revoked for not meeting your quota.

My advice is  that you have no choice, give them a try. Maybe your luck will be better. If you do have job currently, I would not consider changing.

Good luck!

They have both kinds of accounts...nm
nm
Two kinds of flames
flame icon beside a post on MTStars means it is a hot topic (I believe 200 or more hits)

The job hoppers are 2 kinds-SM

The first is the person who really does this for extra money and isn't too serious about it.  They have a 2nd income from spouse, don't need insurance, etc.

The second group is a minority in the MT community, but is responsible for the perception that most of us are job hoppers.  These people are kind of off--and by that I mean personality-wise, don't like being told what to do, very demanding, prima donna kinds of MTs with very dramatic lives.  They need the money, but they also have a personality disorder that makes them upset at any kind of direction given and they also believe they have superior skills to most MTs and deserve to be catered to.

THAT group is the group who posts that they stayed at XX Company for 1 or 2 weeks, got fed up with something and left, stayed at XX Enterprises for a month, got fed up..cycle continues.  I am not talking about not getting paid-that's a real problem.  I am talking about people who live in such chaos that they cannot really settle down enough to work for ANY company for long and they also don't recognize that the common denominator in the job changes is THEM.

try OSI. they have all KINDS of accounts
I adore it there.
so, you know for sure this account agrees to be offshored? (some do not agree).
nm
What kinds of accounts did you have in which you could average 250-350 lph?

I've been with MDI for years now and have worked on the same hospital account for years also.  The best I can get is an AVERAGE of about 200 lph.  Sure, I get the occasional 250 lph here and there, but I can't say I average that on a daily basis by any means.  The only time I've ever actually averaged 250-350+ an hour was with ER or radiology work, and it wasn't at MDI either.

At 11 cpl and averaging 250-350 per hour, that would put you around $30+ an hour.  I find it hard to believe anyone would really quit a job making this kind of money, and I wonder if you were really able to manage this working on hospital accounts or was it some other type of work?

Of course, you are right. Just wondering what kinds of accounts .. sm
like when they answered cancer hospital below. Anyway, it sounds like too new many accounts at once. I'd probably get stuck with 2 or 3 accounts at once, i.e., too risky for me. I even received an email inviting me to test. I had worked there before, and I realize this email went out to a whole group of people, but I just think I'll pass.
Then what kinds of questions should we ask on this forum?
?
You got that right. Focus has their hands in all kinds of
cookie jars. I'm glad to know this though. Considering a QA position with them.
In addition, all kinds of innuendos .sm

by them (i.e., sexual; suicide, etc) before any sort of investigation, autopsy, or in short, before they know the facts.

Hats off to his brother, Keith, for demanding an FBI investigation.

wow TT hires alll kinds...

and they dont care is offshored. Bottom line to them
x
They only offshore if the client wants it. Most accounts do not want their work offshored. NM
x
My 1 cent (keeping it low so opinion doesn't get offshored).
I agree with a lot of the other people. I will say, though, that I would be A-OK just working on Word since I'm assuming getting a the DocQScribe set up for a bunch of people might be cost prohibitive, at least at first.

Also, since you are talking hospital transcription, that is going to mean 7 day a week coverage. If the need arises, I would rather see rotating weekend coverage rather than requiring everybody to work every weekend.

Also, while cross-training is great for vacations, sick days, heavy work, it would be terrific to be able to get an account and not have to chase the work across 6 different accounts in a crazy MT version of musical chairs. I guess that would mean not over-hiring.

It may be unpopular, and it's probably easy for me to say because I've been at this for so long, but since we don't really establish seniority at a company, I would love to see some sort of reward for years on the job. I think I bring more to the table than someone with 2 years, and it would be great to be rewarded for that.

I'm sure I'll think of more...it's been so long since anybody asked what could make my job great that I had given up even thinking about it!
eMTS uses several kinds of software. Ask when you apply. nm
x
KS has many accts, many different kinds of software, many TLs, etc. Some of us just weren't
d
No, not familiar at all. Do they do medical tranny or other kinds? nm
s
Svl kinds of software for many accounts. Pay starts at 8-9 cpl. Want
s
good for you; those kinds of companies will never be stable
/
I detest companies saying these kinds of things about current/former
How can you possibly KNOW that those who are _still with us_ are _very happy, blah, blah_? Are you telekenetic? Did you have lie detector tests performed? Perhaps they speak ill of you and you just are not aware of it. Perhaps they feel they have no alternative but to stay with your company but wish they could leave. How do you know what it is your employees honestly feel or think and then speak for them? Did they collectively ask you to do so?

I'm shaking my head at how you just don't seem to get it. This isn't the first time you've been offered the words I offer you today.

I know many MTs will bash companies here and I cannot explain why I feel this way, but when a company comes on and _defends_ itself in this manner, it turns me against ever having anything to do with it. This isn't the first time IMHO you should have left things alone and let outsiders come to their own conclusions.

MTs who are in the know, know where to find information, how to break it all down and make informed decisions for themselves. I don't want to contact you...you brought yourself into my arena and the lions are feeling hungry these days.

Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level then beat you with experience. (nothing personal, just a quote I enjoy)
I was hired and started in 1 week. That is not a long set-up time. When I started with our local h
I needed to get a physical and go through orientation at the hospital which is only given two times per month. This is a 900-bed hospital, so it cannot be an unusual process. MQ took 2 weeks. KS took 1 week. SoftScript never got me started even after repeated calls and emails.

I have only been with KS for 9 months but would never put them in the same catagory as the others you mentioned. They are the best company I have worked for, and unfortunately, I have bounced around a little in the last 5 years.

Anyone else finding difficulty doing testing with your foot pedal. I am having all kinds of
problems and cant seem to test in Express Scribe with my foot pedal.  Am I going to run into this same problem every time I apply somewhere.  I cant do the test without a pedal because it is very long with fast dictators.  Even to use and keyboard keys is very difficult so I gave us actually.
don't worry, these kinds of heated threads always die down in a couple of days

Want to call you all kinds of management but showing them, no response at all. zzzzzzzzz
NM
Most companies of all kinds request credit reports these days, fair or not.

Yes, a day early!!!
