As far as I can tell the CMT certification is mainly about making money for AAMT/ADHI. It's about selling books (BOS) to prepare for the test and then charging hefty fees to take the test. Then they can release new versions of the BOS that everybody will have to buy to stay current and perhaps charge other fees to maintain certification.
As I see it, the BOS is little more than a collection of somebody's personal preferences that they compiled into book form so that they could sell it (for a fairly high price). If they can somehow make it required reading they can sell more copies in the U.S. and India and elsewhere and get good and fat off it. One way to do that would be to get the medical establishment to require that everybody must be CMT certified in order to work as a CMT.
Don't try to tell me that p.r.n., for example, is correct and PRN is wrong. That is strictly a matter of personal preference and there is no need to standardize either one.
